Over the last few weeks a few PICCADILLY PRINCESS blooms have been out. Not long after our winter solstice. Until the last few days it has been very dry here. Always forecasting rain so I didnt water. My hems looked desperate with my meagre watering. Magically a lot have burst forth. Maybe they were having a bit of a semi-/deciduous spell. A new tiny plant, BLYTHE BELL has tiny buds.
But after heavy rain yesterday, I saw an Intermediate Bearded Iris, LO HO SILVER, that I only bought in May, has had 3 flowers and has some buds. I tried to buy only vigorous iris as it is really too hot and humid here for them. So anything can happen here. After the rain there'll soon be flowers on a few hems bloom that have put on some growth. The ones that bloomed for me last winter haven't done so yet. My hems seem to take a while to recover from flowering when it is dry. I think I have lost some, and was a bit despairing that global warming spelled the end of my garden. Australia just had the hottest financial year on record.
I dread the return of summer and have been busy outside cutting down tree branches as soon as my inured shoulder and wrist allowed. They provided shade but tall trees have become a nightmare for me. I will have to pay heaps to have some removed that I should have felled years ago.
I too was very glad to hear from Glen a while back. I wonder what hems have flowered for him in the last few months.
