There's a Snipping Tool in most versions of Windows. You can use this to take a picture of the whole screen on your computer or just a small portion. Here are some instructions - feel free to play around with it. If you want to practice, you can insert the photo in Word to see what it will look like once uploaded.

1) To access the tool:
Thumb of 2017-09-09/GenXNEGeorgia/83f75e

2) Either select the Snipping Tool in the list or find it in the Accessories folder
Thumb of 2017-09-09/GenXNEGeorgia/b1effe Thumb of 2017-09-09/GenXNEGeorgia/73ea78

3) The Snipping Tool is now open. The background/screen will grey-out a little and this box will appear. Drag your cursor around the area you want to keep and save. When you let go, the tool will show you the capture.
Thumb of 2017-09-09/GenXNEGeorgia/3d60f2

4) To save the capture, click on the disk icon and save the capture as a JPEG file:
Thumb of 2017-09-09/GenXNEGeorgia/49ec75

5) To upload the capture in the forum, follow the same steps you would to upload an image.

Note: Various editions of Windows have different editions of the Snipping Tool - newer versions have more options but the basic steps above are still the steps you'd follow. You can learn more here: https://support.microsoft.com/...

I hope this helps!!

I run Windows 7 and dont have the snipping tool but can still save screenshots by pressing the PRT/SCR button once, then open Paint. In the top left corner of paint click on paste and your screenshot will appear on the paint screen. Then you can adjust it by cropping or any other functions avail and then save it as a JPG file. That file can be used here

I tip my hat to you. I'm running Windows 7 as well...how odd that you don't have the snipping tool! Confused Did you search 'snipping tool' in your Start menu?

On screenshots:

http://getgreenshot.org

It's completely free AND open source.

When it's running, you hit the "print screen button" and then select the area that you want to shoot - and then save it (lots of options).

Quick, painless, and easy...

I'm very, very, very reluctant to recommend programs to people - but this one is clean, has a small footprint, and does exactly what you think it should - it's fantastic.

Way easier than anything described here - "print screen", select area, save - boom, done!

Dang, that little program is slicker than I thought - and I've been using it for years.

I've only ever used the "save" option. But on this one, I selected "open in image editor".

When you do that, there are a bunch of buttons on the left side. In this case, I hit "highlight" and selected the link - and - "obfuscate" and ran over my name (in the upper right) with it. Kinda slick. And quick as can be.

I'll have to mess with it more. But it does more than I've ever asked it to.

Also, if you use Dropbox there's an option to automatically save a "PrtScr" to Dropbox, which makes it very easy to find.

Do you mean how to upload photos to the forums from an iPad? It's absolutely possible - when you try to upload the picture, you have to press Photo Library twice for it to allow you to select a picture. But it should upload the same way as if you were working on your computer or laptop.

I'd be happy to send screenshots if you'd find them helpful. I'll just have to wait until after work Smiling

It's pretty much the same process but I'll put together a step-by-step guide with screenshots and post it when I get a little time tomorrow.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in posting these instructions.

To upload images to garden.org using an iPad, follow these instructions (it's a lot like how it's done at a PC/laptop).

1. Touch the "Upload an image" icon:
Thumb of 2019-03-26/GenXNEGeorgia/827e72

2. Touch the "Upload an image" icon again to bring up the Photo Library screen.
Thumb of 2019-03-26/GenXNEGeorgia/c24d6a Thumb of 2019-03-26/GenXNEGeorgia/ff9c19

3. Select Camera Roll (or other source)
Thumb of 2019-03-26/GenXNEGeorgia/72e11e

4. Select the photo(s) you want to upload (each one you touch will be selected (touch again to unselect). A small blue check mark will appear for each photo.
Thumb of 2019-03-26/GenXNEGeorgia/accf2c
Touch "Done" to upload the selected image(s)
When it's done uploading, the images will appear at the bottom of the message)
