We are all a bit down about this but Glen said they are trying o keep shipping prices the same as in the past.
He also said he didnt know how long the shipping prices would stay low,couple of years and they will go up.

NOOOOOO They are not extending the discount.In past years they ran a classified.

Debbie, the past two or three years they ran a "classified ad" on DG, offering $1 per plant. Many of us ordered a lot of discounted plants during their special sale. They're just not doing that sale this year. So whatever we buy we'll have to pay full price. Still not a bad deal for the quality of the plants.

The plant quality is wonderful and they offer sooooo many varieties I cant find locally. It always helps me get the planter combos done early so I am not waiting for May to find the coleus I can locally and punt from there.
They charge a flat fee for shipping no matter how many plants you get ( I think )

Ok, I understand now. Yes, until recently I wasn't on DG. I can't believe I missed RD coleus for a dollar. Oh well, like I told Karen on another thread. Co op or not, I will have to order some from them. I agree, their plants are awesome. In fact, I think I will start browsing RD's website now.

oops it was a dollar off the price of each... not for a dollar.. boy we would have really cleared them out if that was the price!!!

Wheww. thanks for letting me know that Allison. You can imagine how I was kicking myself for missing RD's for a dollar. Now I feel much better.

JoAnn--thanks for letting us know. I'll miss the discount this year, but their plants are so wonderful I'm sure I'll order some anyway. They do such an awesome job with the vigorous root system and fabulous packing. I've never lost a plant they've shipped.... I also like supporting a small business like theirs.

Linda: I feel the same way about small business. Its just the 2 of them.I have talked to Glenn and he is so smart and funny,easy going too.

There is a small greenhouse nursery in my neighborhood where I buy my ProMix. The owner does grow and sell some named coleus. I might give her some business this year if she has any that I want. The selection isn't as large as Rosy Dawn's but it was pretty good. I might give her my business this year.

We had a campaign here to buy local at crismiss.Mostly there was a movement to not buy anything made in China.Hard to do these days when parts come from there.

I did my christmas shopping that way as well
