If you love fuzzy leaves but African violets aren't loving your house, you could try:
Lace Flower (Alsobia dianthiflora)
or:
Streptocarpella (Streptocarpus saxorum)
or if you have a lot of light, one of these:
Felt Plant (Kalanchoe beharensis 'Fang')
Plectranthus Cerveza 'n Lime®
Vicks Plant (Plectranthus hadiensis)
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

If one is attracted to Sago palm but they don't have enough light, a ZZ plant could be a similar substitute:
Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta)
ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

If you like Echeverias but your nights are too hot and humid, Graptosedum or Sedeveria could be alternatives.

I can also suggest, if one does not like the pokey tips of Sago palm, try cardboard palm -Zamia furfuracea instead.
Both likes good warmth and as much bright light to some full sun you can give. Just don't position in a north facing area. It will never be sufficient light for its needs.

Peace lily, cast iron, and plain Chinese evergreen are so similar looking.
Peace Lilies (Spathiphyllum)
Cast Iron Plant (Aspidistra elatior)
Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema modestum)

They are. I've never seen Cast Iron Plant here but would like to try it sometime. I could surely mix a green Ag Modestum with a Spath at first look.

Some Aglaonema and Dieffenbachia are confused in my mind apparently. Here, the Pictum, First Diamond, Super White, I would have called DIeffenbachia. I guess I'm not as smart as I sometimes think. I'm familiar with the silver Ags and the pink red ones now.
https://plantly.io/plant-care/...

Friend brought over a purple florist cyclamen, calling it an African violet. It is a similar overall shape and position of flowers and leaves, but on a bigger scale.

Tradescantia spathacea and purpurea could be confusing at times. Or is it pallida? See, I am confused.
Plant it and they will come.

I thought I had a new pair to post. I saw a plant , little pot of seedlings, I thought was coffee, tagged Ardesia. The only one left. I've never grown Ardeisa Then I saw at another grocery store, similar little plants, both coffee and Ardesia humilis, and the first store must have been mistagged.
Plant it and they will come.

Agree, I've seen ID requests where coffee and Ardisia were the suggestions for the asked-about plant. Just don't try to make coffee with Ardisia berries. LOL! IDK about buying coffee plants, what you would be likely to get, but there are a couple Ardisias in commerce. One of them has become designated invasive nuisance in FL (of course!)

Once in a while, I think I've pulled an A. humilis sprout, not just another of hundreds of thousands of cherry laurel sprouts. I would like to play with a potted one of those for a while but by the time I realize, it's wrapped in loop around my hand and crushed and pulled out of the ground. I think there is a mature specimen somewhere in my mom's neighborhood because I see sprouts often in her oak tree bed but they are impossible to dig up in all the tree roots.

The coffee were glossier, more veined, and darker green- prettier to me. Now I'm curious about this Ardesia as a potted plant.
Plant it and they will come.

Nothing to contribute to the thread, but I do want to say how much I admire Tiffany's imagination. I could sit and think for years and never come up with the topics she turns into threads. That kind of imagination and dedication to keeping the forums moving is such an important asset. Strong work, Tiffany!

Thank you very much! There is little around here to distract me from plants. IOW, it's boring and I have to grow my own entertainment.

This gorgeous lipstick plant so similar to Hoya. The blooms aren't similar but the foliage is. Lots of different Hoyas. I chose a similar foliage photo @ random.

If one is giving you a hard time, maybe try the other. Then they can have a goal, to compete for your attention. Or you realize you like both from seeing this and now just need another plant, or 8. LOL!

I was given a small hoya once, grew it a few years, never fell in love, then aphids.
I've had lipstick on my " if I come across it' list for a while.
Plant it and they will come.

Excellent suggestion! I agree they are great dopple'ers.

Most of the struggling Pilea peps that I've seen looked like they needed more water, more light. ...because the good looking ones are always right by a big window or even outside and reportedly not going through droughts. But not because I've been able to find one to buy and have personal experience. When it's right, one will be there on the shelf.
