Tiffany, yes a greenhouse. I don't try to keep it cool but have a lot of fans keeping the air moving. In summer I use a misting fan. It often hits 100 inside but nothing seems to mind.
I gave my daughter a piece of the Pilea which she kept on her kitchen sink so she could remember to water it. It didn't do well until she moved it to a darker spot so I think if you could keep the humidity up, it would do well in a house. I tried my sunroom first and even though its pretty shady, the Pilea was going down hill. The GH was a desperation move.
Everyone does assume they grow straight up because that's what all the pictures show. I know I did. But it just wanted to flop and I gave up. I'm a firm believer in letting my plants have their way.
