After I saw the pdf of this catalog I logged into My Daylilies and sent a message to Cary Peterson, giving him my address and email address and requesting he send me one, and yesterday I heard back from him that he is sending me one. So maybe this is what people should do to get one. You get into his profile and there's a place to send a message.

Look out Ann - your really hooked when you are buying new intros! I grew $5 an $10 Dottie Warrell seedlings and garden center daylilies for 15 years before I bought my first new intro. It was also my first into at all, let alone new. When I first saw the catalog cover image - I fell in love with sculpts. Been crazy about them ever since. I paid $200 for Supreme Empire. Quite a jump from $5-$10 to $200! Especially 15 years ago!

Thanks Betty! For those who don't know that kind of marker, they are from AAA engraving in New Orleans. I love them. That photo was taken a couple years back after an ice storm followed by snow.

Supreme Empire is just as beautiful now as it was then. Has it all so I can understand why you did what you did.

Never heard back from Cary but did recieved my copy of the catalog yesterday, for some reason its taking a long time to get them.

I've been hooked for quite a while now, just my nature that I prefer to wait until I can get a 'bargain' on the auction...... I did buy NORTH WIND DANCER a year after its introduction from Gary Schaben as my 'president's daylily' (our club gives club presidents $100 to purchase a daylily of their choice and I still had to kick in $50 of my own....). That started my hybridizing bug since I told myself that if I had such an expensive daylily I should use it to make some seeds :~) And that was the start of my real downfall.....

Yep -- that was me at Schreiner's Iris Gardens in May 2009, when it was in the mid-90's in Salem, Oregon. That garden was soooooo incredible! And I was a photographin' fool!!!

Juli--you should definitely encourage North Wind Dancer to follow you home! It's a fantastic daylily.

OHHHH Betty, I'd probably just die of sensory overload if I ever got to see their gardens. I love Iris, in fact, I think they are the most beautiful plant in my garden. I've loved Iris since I was a little girl. So, I'm sure I would have filled my camera full of photos if I had been there. Ok, I grow hundreds of daylilies and only a few Iris, but I still think Iris are beautiful. Do you have more photos of your Iris? Blessings Mona

Mona, I've put lots (well over 1,000) of iris pictures in the database and love to post pictures of new irises in each year, but I don't have beautiful iris gardens at all. I just take pictures of individual blooms when they happen. But you're right about sensory overload when you come across a garden like Schreiner's. They have a HUGE garden filled with all sorts of wondrous things that just goes on and on.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I've never seen such beauty in my life! Those are some awesome photos. I'd probably just have to pull up a soft spot of grass, sit down and quietly breath in and out to soak up all that beauty. Lupines??? How in the world, I know nothing about growing them. It's just very obivious that they know how in a big way. I'm not too sure, but I think they are stealing the show away from the Iris.

Please, do you have access to these photos online somewhere that I could see more?? I don't want to take over this thread with them, but I sure would like to see more.

Mona, I'm sorry but I don't. That's about all I took of the garden in general. But you know who is growing those lupines -- Newyorkrita! She got a bunch last year and they grew really well for her, and maybe she'll chime in and show her pictures. She also has about the best gardens I've seen! Maybe we could get a "Rita's Garden" thread here if she's up to it -- hope hope? That would be a really fantastic way to while away the days until spring emerges...

Go to Schriener's Iris Garden Site. They have a few there and I use one as my screensaver once in awhile. Have several I trade on and off but don't use them otherwise since they are theirs. I love this one.
