Has anyone collected pollen to freeze for next year?

I thought I had collected three (3) tubes, but just went to check in my freezer and didn't see them. I had refrigerator problems, and threw much away, when/before freezer/refrigerator repairman came to fix.

'Super Hero' is probably now on the top of my favorites list. Wished I knew how to post a quick easy link to the database entry to it.

I love it! I'm extremely fond of Iris with rims on the standards. So I wanted to use it's pollen a lot. Even on my earlier bloomers. Oh, we'll see what 2018 season holds.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Oops, edited to say "this is not a seedling in the photo!", but a hopeful good parent.

I have gotten seeds from Super Hero both as a pod parent. Not all of it's blooms have pollen however, and I don't think I have gotten it to work as a pollen parent. I'll have to check my records.

@tveguy3 thanks for that information. I had saved "anthers" (just the pollen part whole without stem), and that too was going to be a test, with a q-tip placed in the tube and swabbed previously on the anther.

Well, they are just seeds that I collected this year so it may be a while yet. Hilarious! I crossed it with High Desert, and Tuscan Summer. I also see that I got a pod on Magical crossed with Super Hero, so it worked as a pollen parent too. Magical is a very fertile one, and I guess I tried it mostly due to that. I see that there are two registered offspring of Super Hero, both introduced by Barry Blyth.

I wished the Iris database ( @Australis ) *Blush* Joshua, was linked on every thread post, so I could got directly there from the link prior to posting a reply. I tip my hat to you.

Hi Teresa @TsFlowers

What you can do is add a link to the Iris database to your custom link menu in the top right corner (the little chain link icon next to your profile menu). Click on it, then "Add Links". You can then put in a direct link to the Iris Database:

The Irises Database

That way you can access it directly from any page!
Plant Authorities: Catalogue of Life (Species) --- International Cultivar Registration Authorities (Cultivars) --- RHS Orchid Register --- RHS Lilium Register
My Notes: Orchid Genera HTML PDF Excel --- Lilium Traits HTML PDF --- Lilium Species Crosses HTML PDF Excel --- Lilium Species Diagram
The current profile image is that of Iris 'Volcanic Glow'.

I can't seem to find the custom link menu. Do I have to be at the Irises Database first; or is this something under my profile, or the browser itself?
@Australis . . . I started this thread so I'll get notice.

Here's a direct link to the settings page: https://garden.org/users/prefs...

I don't recall if the custom menu shows up without any links on it (if you can't see it, I'm guessing not). But it will be in the header on every page, next to your profile menu (the person icon) in the very top right.

Teresa ~ It is listed as 'Superhero' in the database.

Edited to say BTW, that is a very good picture. We're you wanting to put it in the database?

Sorry @Snork Pam that Magical doesn't grow well for you. I was tempted to offer Tom a trade, but based on business, I just can't/don't do much trading. I have the same problem with Kitty Kay Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Kitty Kay') Shrug!

Some better photos (minus the raindrops) of my seedling Birthday Surprise x Set To Music which I have named Surprise Symphony (thanks for the name Evelyn Smiling ). Subsequent blooms have kept the white dart. The colour of the falls is pretty. It is more red and less purple than its daddy "Set To Music" and it also has a slight rim around the falls like its daddy.
