That's a good idea, Mary. That way the winner could use the prize wherever they wanted, including local stores.

I think most sites here don't accept American Express, I guess that would include a 'voucher'. I'm not complaining though as it would be convenient for those in the US and I probably wouldn't win anyway.

American Excuse charges a $3 every time you use it, so that really isn't too financially smart. You could do a Paypal deposit or a Visa gift card, or hell, why not just mail a $100 bill? A visa card would more likely be the way I'd go. They are fairly easy to obtain and can be used just about anywhere in the world, as far as I know.

I don't think I'll be mailing a $100 bill. Smiling

I'd play. I've actually won raffles before. One time, it was 2 in a row! Though I haven't been so lucky sense. But you can't win if you don't play, Right? Hilarious!

Would we have some time to add to our acorns?

I'm in! Hilarious! IF: I guess the card would be posted to the winner, then it has to be activated. Would that mean purchasing the card in the name of the winner and I assume other details such as address and phone number? If not, what happens if it goes missing in the post, anyone could register it. An online or telephone purchase requires the same details as you have registered when activating the card which is your address and phone number.

I checked out the Visa gift card, some info ..

Joy - what I've been doing is going through my pictures on my computer here at work, seeing what pictures are in the database, and then adding them to the database. Best way to get pix in the database if there isn't one of that plant! Takes but for a few minutes to upload and, as crappy as a photographer as I am, pictures of plants is why we're here, right? Smiling

Toni, I've been doing the same. I've got pictures from the last ten years on discs and hard drives. Just have to hunt them down as most aren't labeled. Confused Hilarious!

What about details for the plants? Most of us have a library of gardening books. After I'm finished with the roses, I'm going to get out my Lewisia books or my Primula books and start entering details for all of those plants. There are thousands and thousands of plants in the database with little or no information. That's a great way to earn acorns and to build the database.

Ok, looks like there is enough interest here, so here's how I propose we do this:

Sometime soon (perhaps on Friday) we launch the raffle. You will be able to buy as many tickets as you wish for 50 acorns each.

The cutoff date will be next Wednesday. That afternoon I will print off all the tickets onto pieces of paper and we'll put them in a bucket and video the drawing.

The winner will receive a $100 card (either a gift certificate to your favorite place, or a Visa card.)

The second place winner will receive an ATP t-shirt in the size and color of their choice (subject to availability!)

Sounds like a plan?
