I've been ordering from Judy since 2016. Total satisfaction.

Oops! My mistake! So sorry! Blinking It was another place. D'Oh! Something about not having a certificate.
I am new to the various iris garden sellers online. I had no idea that there were so many!

So after that blunder, I sent her a small order. I am quickly running out of room...but you all have heard that one before, huh? nodding She had a couple that I was looking for so here is what I ordered:

Alien Mist
Stop Flirting
Polish Princess

and two arilbreds:
Hakuna Matata
Child Song

Oh dear... ALREADY?!? I still have around 200 in pots I need to plant... I haven't been able to spend any time to speak of in the garden the past couple of weeks.. My house has been torn up with contractors.. First phase done.. Next week it's floor refinishing and tree work. I've been in this house long enough that the things I've fixed or improved, now need fixing or replacing.. The roofers should be along soon... Blinking

I can so relate, Sherry. Our 30+ years in the same house leaves much to be done to it! Everything needs a re-do! At least you're making progress.

Sherry, at least your 200 in pots WILL finally get in the ground. I think most of my 200 bearded irises are going to STAY in pots! (Unless we start digging up the weedy, bumpy Back 40 lawn, which I am loathe to do, probably only 10-15% of the irises at any given time will have a spot in the ground that is big enough to allow a good clump. Even if we DID dig up part of the lawn (Warp needs that lawn!), there are any number of daylilies which are first in line, begging for a home in the dirt.)
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Evelyn - Child Song is so gorgeous. And also now sold out! Wish I could grow them better.

Leslie ~ This will be my first attempt at growing arilbreds. Did you grow yours in a pot? That was my first impulse regarding them since my ground is clay. Of course my new iris beds are super-amended and have well-drained soil. Still, I think that I will put them in large pots.

How long did you have yours? Long enough to see it bloom?

I have had only Eye To Eye bloom. I have Sand Dancer in a pot with more sand. It is slowly growing bigger. The humidity in the summer here is the real kicker for getting arils to be unhappy here. If the air were drier I think they would do pretty well.

Leslie ~ Well, you can amend the soil, but not the air. It is very dry all summer here.

You can grow a lot of different irises than I can't with the summer rains and moisture in your soil. Japanese irises, Louisiana irises and probably some others. I won't even attempt them here, though others may do so, growing in ponds or large containers with no drainage.

Evelyn, My neighbor grows his Aril hybrids in straight sand.. Mine grow in sandy soil, and I can't say that they're going gangbusters. In their defense, that particular bed had quite a bit of problems with all the rain this past year. We'll see what happens next spring...

Sherry ~ Thank You! for the suggestion. I still am thinking of growing them in large pots. I will make it very well-drained and then put the top layer in sand. Do your neighbor"s plants look good?

Leslie, I was just thinking that the only thing I'd change on Edwardian Age would be a blue beard for the red - and here, Rick has added the blue beard! More pink/orchid would be nice though. Ice Cream Sundae looks yummy!
