Greg, thanks for the suggestion but I don't think so. Fritz @IrisP has a photo of each next to each on his website. His photo of 'Iwein' is much bluer. He would probably be the most qualified person ID this one.

I do have one question though - why is such a yellow iris named Pink Cheeks? Though, I see that Fritz's photo in the AIS shows it does have pink cheeks, answering my own question.

I think you have visit the Merian Gardens in May, so I can give pictures from the little irises from March and April.

Fritz - I have finished uploading all my photo so please feel free to add as many as you like, in fact I welcome it. I didn't even notice the little guys on my last visit. I will have to pay more attention when I visit this coming May!!!!

Sharlene.... what a beautiful thread this is. ...honoring the older irises and the hybridizers that have given us such beauty. I have bought a few of these here in the U.S. but they did not bloom true.

Fritz i look forward to your photos of the little early irises. One vendor in America offers Three Smokes but they are always *out* when i try to buy it. Thank you for your input, knowledge and photographic talents.
