I agree That looks nice!

kassiap , that is a beautiful path...I have tried to get that effect but have not succeeded.
I have a few herbs that have been mentioned. I like stevia for it's flowers.
Any one find oregano invasive? I have some in a mixed bed and it is looking a little too healthy!

Being related to mint, oregano probably could be a bit agressive.
If it is doing well, it sounds like you have lots of oregano treats on the menu. lol
I keep mine in a pot. It seems to do better for me waterwise.

After reading this thread, I was working outside this past weekend and it made me notice the perennial herbs still growing.
Oregano is one. Bay laurel is another I love.
Both an upright and a trailing rosemary are in bloom right now.
A nice green patch of soapwort.
Many wouldn't consider it an herb but garlic is one also.

I also started some annual herbs this weekend.

And I'm overwintering a few in the greenhouse.
Lemon grass, allspice and a new pot of catnip for the girlies.
If they'd only leave it alone!

Aww, cute picture! My kitties destroyed the small pot of it that I had, too. This spring I want to plant a whole patch of it for them.
I love my chocolate mint, as the scent keeps the critters away when I plant it amongst the annuals that they normally like to eat!

My herbs plus a few veggies still growing outside right now here in cold-winter TN (ha!) are rosemary, flat-leaf parsley, nepeta, onions, leeks, Swiss chard, bloody dock, spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint, mojito mint (my fave), pineapple mint, mountain mint, oregano, and lemon balm. Sheesh ... I've never had it so good in winter.

I wadded the dead dill foliage into a ball and left it out there so I could pick it up and smell it from time to time (don't laugh). Luv dill. Green Grin!

One of my best nurseries is about 18 miles from my house and when I'm there I sometimes buy a tiny dill plant just for the scent it will leave in my car for days. Plus one can never grow enough dill. Same with fennel.

Yes, fennel too. I put fennel and/or fennel seeds in everything I can. Good idea to put it or dill in the car. Thumbs up

Odd but I was cleaning up the garden plot on Monday and found a volunteer dill seedling that was about 3 inches tall and frosty. I dug it up and potted it till I rework the beds. We have had some warmer days but the soil is still cold. How can you not like a willing volunteer like that?

I haven't seen any responses yet from "team no herbs," Hilarious! but I'd say anybody who hadn't grown them before would try some this year after reading this thread! If I lived in an apartment with room for just a single container hanging off the fire escape, I'd still grow herbs. I love them in all my garden beds, and there are a lot that I grow just for scent or "for pretty" in addition to those that get snipped for the kitchen.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

I love my herbs and have lots of different kinds. Can't imagine being without them. Most are perennials here.

The cardamon plant thrives on neglect.
The plant came from a nursery, but I have tried germinating seeds with no success.
The seeds were from grocery store, but I never see cardamon seeds in seed catalogues?

I hope so!!!! they are next town over Wells ME ) really great price... the plants grew really quick and now I can divide...

Love these wonderful finds that come up on the Random Ideas!!!!!

Thanks to this thread I now I want to go get more herbs for my new patio area. I have to get the ones that are OK with limited sun light.

I had planted a container of Rosemary with 2 kinds of Basil, and Parsley but the Parsley died. The Basils are doing OK and the Rosemary very well, I Have some more Parsley growing in it's own pot. Nothing like an omelet with fresh herbs to start the day.
I am also using thyme with some other plants in container. And a little bit of whooly Thyme in a rock.

I usually grow a few more but due to having concrete replaced on patio limited it to a small container. More next year.
I am definitely on the Team Herbs .... Think I'll have an omelet for lunch.

Yum...omettes! We were going to a local place once a week to eat omelettes...they were SO good...then it closed this month. Guess I'll have to do them at home now!

I have herbs scattered throughout my vege patch to try and confuse the bad bugs. My wife complains that she can't find anything. This year I plan to have a 2x4 foot section with herbs in it.

Prostrate Rosemary. It is my second favorite herb, following Basil. I am trying a new basil this year called, "Genovese Red Freddy". I wanted to try it, because the other red basil has too mach of an anise flavor. I like the purple foliage.

Another new one is Oregano WIld Zaatar. It is said the flavor is between Oregano, Thyme, and Marjoram.
