Frilly, going to plant 'maters, here, too. Only one or two because I am a neglectful waterer, but trying again will be good for me.
Kabby, I am going back and forth looking at height, number of buds, rebloom status, open or closed standards (I don't like them when they flop out). Then look at detail like is there a rim color on the standards--unless it is a fine wire, looks to me like they have that browning that comes on Roses and I dislike it. Oh, yeah...I also look at the NGA database to see if there is a member has it and might trade with me.
Then I look at the tone of the colors. Example is Fusion and Cold Fusion. The purple on one looks to have more violet in it. The other looks to be more of a true purple, which I like better. Last will be cost and what else I want that is being juggled in the budget. An engrossing occupation which helps pass time when I can't get up and do much. I love my friend...
Next, I have Daylily seeds that have been in the fridge for months. Most are bee pods, but some are from intentional crosses. Need to set them to germinating. Also have a bee pod that came off the I.brevicaulis. Shocked me in the first place that I have them, not sure where they came from. Then I was shocked to find they are a type of Louisiana Iris--and they are flourishing in my yard without supplemental water!!!! The seeds will probably look like the parent, but eager to see if I can get them to germinate and give me lil'baby seedlings.
