Hi Lynn! Your Asiatic type lily probably did get too much water this spring. And it may have also picked up a fungal infection known as botrytis. When it is done blooming you can cut off the stem close to the ground since it essentially has no leaves left. Throw stem and leaves in garbage; don't compost. The lily should come back next year, perhaps a bit weaker.

Some lilies are simply more susceptible to botrytis than others. The one to the left is from a different lily group, an Oriental lily, probably Star Gazer or some other lily with L. speciosum in its genes.

It is Star Gazer. : )
The affected lily was newly planted last fall, so this is the first time to bloom. And we did have months of nonstop rain this winter into late spring. Should I dig it up and move it. The ground there drains well, but it never stopped raining. : (
Thank you for your help Connie. I just noticed that you live in the Willamette Valley also. : )

Lynn, I would just leave it there seeing as the rain is pretty much abated for the summer. You might want to mark it with a stake after you cut it down, especially if you do want to move it. Best to move in the fall.

Isn't it fun gardening here in the Willamette Valley. I need to quick lurking on the semp/sedum forums and get around to posting a few of my pics. I have some nice stuff. Not like you though with your huge collection. But hey! I have a couple hundred lilies, does that count? Rolling on the floor laughing
