My results are usually good but this year I've only done 9 jugs and the vast majority of my seeds were old, so I'm less confident than most years.

Karen, I may have asked you this before...is that picture of your yard? If so you are making e want to sow some coleus and zinnia seeds. I love the variety of color coleus adds to a bed.

I love looking at Karen's avatar! It's so inspirational. Lovey dubby I have a shady front entrance as well and can't wait to get it as pretty as Karen's!

I bought impatiens seeds for the front yard that I haven't wintersown yet. I guess I should get going on that this weekend! Thumbs up

And the perennials I wintersowed are looking gorgeous!

Hi, Terese Welcome!

I have only WS 6 jugs, and very late. I'm afraid with our unusually warm weather this may be a risk, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'll sow more annuals by this method probably fairly soon if this weather keeps up.

Me, too. It's supposed to go down to a low of 29° Friday night, but the rest of the forecast is pretty warm. I'll soon get a start on tomatoes and a few annuals.

Now I'm regretting not cold stratifying the small amount of Sweet Everlasting seeds I put aside. I had thought that some plants would probably come up out on the property where the seeds had scattered naturally or where I scattered seed inside my yard, but nothing so far. Just the few plants that didn't die last year or over the winter, that's all I see. I guess it didn't get cold enough this winter (27° was the lowest I remember). Enough rain, just not enough cold. Wonder if it would do any good to cold stratify the seeds now.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Linda, cold stratification generally means refrigerator temp, so around 40°. But if days were hot, the seeds might not have gotten enough consistent cold.

On the other hand, nothing is gained by not trying the refrigerator...

I too never got a hang of that DH journal. too confusing.

and i do the same as you, only print what i need printed.
I think I've been using google docs for 2 yrs, but i started the spreadsheet back in 07 i think, or 08.

A front rolled thru last night, it's only 40f now, and only a high of 44. COLD tonight.

I've had decent luck doing my annuals at the end of march before.... but who knows, with the crazy weather, what May will be like.

With all the rain we've been having, rain=cloudy skies. While spring might not give us particularly warm days because of lack of sunshine, I'm betting we don't have many frosty nights in store, either. We're supposed to get down to 26° tomorrow night, but after this cold coming weekend, our 15 day forecast is lows in the 40s and 50s.

It's raining again now, and on radar it looks like lots of rain today. Forecast is an inch of rain, windy and some thunderstorms. With our tornadoes so fresh in memory, that's going to make a lot of people nervous, not to mention making survivors and clean-up miserable.

This has been one of the warmest winters on record. If you follow this article to page 2, it shows that Texas defied LaNina and had it's 14th wettest year, easing drought conditions.

Today I uncovered the jugs and saw that most of them had a green color to the soil. Blinking Is this some sort of moss or fungus? Confused Should I be concerned?
