Not the type of frogs that can live outside in the garden.

I'm not sure I understand, Rita. My frog is on the list in the link and he and his buddies live outside in my garden.

Where do they live??

Thanks Sharon! Ah maybe that is why we found that little frog at that time, it was a rainy winter then up to spring..hmmm but lately rain is so hard to come by..so no froggy orchestra anywhere..
I only have my frequent spiders like the black widow, mantids, annoying snails and slugs ..

In Manila we find the frogs everywhere, big bull frogs..it rains a lot, floods a lot, humid and warm..all the right stuff for frog life Big Grin

But they have to be near water, I think.

There are dart frogs and other tropical and non native species there. I guess maybe the green tree frog is native but most listed are not.

Oh, I didn't look at the prices.
Now I understand Rita's comment. Yep, not a very good investment.
Even for little green tree frogs.

I could probably supply half the country with the ones in my garden in spring and when it rains. Multitudes of them.

If I thought they'd get there without drying out, I'd do that very thing, Rita.
I don't understand why you don't have them in your ponds already.

Ah maybe because frogs have many natural predators..and sensitive to weather too, so they can jump and migrate to wherever is warmer for them..I think they would prefer to be in the upper 70F temps and higher

Maybe your best bet Rita is to source tadpole eggs..have a small aquarium tank to raise them and add as needed to your pond...

oops scratch that tadpole sourcing suggestion of mine..not recommended..might end up getting a non native frog specie that will be a danger to local wildlife...

I wish I had tree frogs but I don't. I never even see any toads in the garden. But each summer I do get a few frogs in the ponds. But I just know I could do better. My garden really is a wonderful habitat for them so I am surprised that they are not here.

Look at your beautiful avatar, Rita. Those little green frogs could hide there in all that lush foliage forever and you'd never see them.

I have an entire shrub border running along the south property line of my house. It completly hides my view of the neighbors drive way. Then I have lots of those lush rose beds. I Know they could hide in there but at the very least I would upon occasion hear them singing. Plus I Have all the flower beds. I spend lots of time in the garden and looking at the plants. Surely I would notice a tree frog or toad sometimes if they were here. But I never do.

Many tree frogs can change color for camouflage, going from green to a grayish color,
