Here are a couple mini parade roses 🌹 from my garden today. The white one is the one that has the powdery mildew. I did use the Neem oil but it didn't do much and we've had weather in the 80s and no bad results with the leaves so far! Keeping fingers crossed 🤞.

Oh and an update on the Neem oil. While it really didn't kill the powdery mildew, unless it stays white and doesn't come off, it did not hurt anything or cause damage to any of the plant and we got well into the 80s for about a week. 😀

Just an FYI for those interested and trying to help me!! My white rose is truly blooming and doesn't seem to care about the powdery mold as much as I do!

😀

Cheers!!

This is one that I shot as a bud. It's full open. I love the peachy mix of color.

The next one was on dire straights. Just sticks after it's bloom. It's red with white stripes. Cut back to good wood, fertilized, and buried the stems up higher and it made me the tiniest bloom in my garden. Compare to the pad on my finger lol.

Mindi, you didn't take over the thread! I'm so glad you're sharing! Once mine start blooming again I will share too! I planted three of them in the ground and they're doing very well! I potted one up and gave it away. I've been lazy about planting/potting up the rest 😐. Beautiful, and such a good deal! I have to walk right past them when I go into a Trader Joe's, otherwise it's very hard for me to not buy more, and I have enough garden chores as is for right now.

Hi Carly!!

Iam glad we can share together. All my roses are doing pretty well except one. It's blooming like crazy but it has powdery mildew I can't seem to get rid of. Do you have any tips? And I know what you mean. At the story where I grocery shop there are always mini parade 🌹 roses. I have to keep myself away because I don't have room for anymore lol!!

Cheers Carly!!!

Mindi, I have enough roses that one speck of powdery mildew throws me into a panic. We have monsoons here in July and August with highish humidity and cool nights - perfect for mildew. I use Actinovate SP two or three times in the year outside fungal season and as often as everyother week when I detect the infection in the garden. You may choose to garden without it; but if you find yourself unable to resist the temptation to add the next couple roses to your garden each year, you may come to a point where you will be happier trying to control powdery mildew. Another choice is Safer soap made from potassium bicarbonate, applied in early evening.

I meant to say: it's a beautiful blossom. Love both the color and form!

Thank you Steve!!!

I will try to find that powdery mildew treatment. My heart sinks every time I see it on my roses 🌹.

Iam glad that you like my little rose!!

I beg to wade in on this debate to respectfully submit the following: "Safer Insecticidal Soap" is an insecticide, excellent at killing aphids in particular, etc. It is made from potassium salts of fatty acids, it is useless against powdery mildew, nor does the manufacturer make that claim. Safer does offer a product called "Defender" which contains sulphur, the best and safest fungicide available. There are tons of other providers with similar "sulphur" based spray products. And while on the subject of "powdery mildew", with all due respect to previous posters, Neem Oil is not intended to prevent "powdery mildew" in spite of what some manufacturers may claim. It's main claim to fame, is in clogging the lungs of some insects which attack fruit trees, and roses, applied before bud out, but nothing to do with "powdery mildew". I have used all these products mentioned above for years, except that I buy powdered Sulphur, and mix it in with my spray container - note, talking a lot of roses and fruit trees. Any of the 1L hand bottle sprays containing Sulpher, work well. I have used sodium bicarbonate, but it is decidedly inferior to sulphur. Cheers!

Thank you Frank. I'll look for a product with sulfur in it. I picked the Neem because right on the front of the bottle says it is for powdery mildew and insects. It didn't do anything good or bad. Just a waste of money.
