I remember the days of getting sooooo many boxes in one day or boxes daylily back when I first began buying daylilies. If I had a yard to plantthings in I probably would still be buying daylilies just for the gardens, but since I grow my daylilies at James' and for hybridizing purposes and have no room for just garden plants my checkbook is soooooo thankful.

I got my order from Maryott's around the 4th of July. I like to give them as much time as possible before frost and freeze sets in around here so I try to get in on one of the first shipping dates. The fringe benefit to that, with the vigor of Bill's plants, is that I've had blooms on ANNABELLE'S BLUSH, NEW PARADIGM, BLUEGRASS MUSIC, ZOE ALLEGRA and I have my first one about to open on BUSY BEING BLUE! One of these days, I promise, I will get around to posting the pictures. Normally I take them at lunch when I go home to let the dogs out but since Maverick has to go out on a leash I am otherwise occupied.

I got 4 orders in yesterday and four in today.

I won an auction from Marietta (LIlygirlz) for a plant that had developed rot. John called and talked for two hours. LOL The sent Shark Attack as a sub. It's worth several times what I paid for the original. This is their pic.


Maryott sent Coffee House, Prickly Sensation and New Paradigm as bonus/special plants as well as over double the advertized fans of Strikingly Dramatic, Free Wheelin' and Hi Ho Silver.

On a LA order I got two fans of Supernatural instead of 1.

Today I got a box from Dan Hansen. He sent Afterburner (a 2013 I'd admired when I went to Mecca, see pic), Madagascar Marty (a Whale Tails kid) and a TF of Frankenflower. For bonuses he sent a TF of Popo and 6F of Warm and Fuzzy!

Well, of course Casshigh ordered many more than I did, but how lucky to have gotten Busy Being Blue as a bonus. That's my dream daylily.

This was my first year ordering from Mr. Maryott, so I was cautious, as I always am. I should not have been cautious after reading the reviews, and I sure won't be next year!

I haven't been ordering from Maryotts lately because I'm out of room here. Something has to go from now on to get new ones. BUT this year I had to have Busy Being Blue. He sent it in June along with Thanks Tommy for a bonus. I had been wanting that one very much for years. He must have looked at my past emails because I had asked him when he would be selling it a couple of years ago. Even though he had listed it for sale I didn't buy it from him because I had ordered so many ones from other people. I was dumbstruck when I saw it in the box. He is just too generous. He also sent another new intro along as a bonus but I forgot the name of it.

I like this new recommendation thing. I've used Garden Watchdog for years, but I like the set up of this. Although I think it's going to get really big, and they are going to have to start alphabetizing by a letter to click on.

I have been doing both, Watchdog and the recommendations. Watchdog seems to be getting less popular and I like that on recommendations you can post pictures.

That's what I really like about the recommendations here. Watchdog is getting less and less. I noticed when I left some feedback it moved slowly down the page.

You'll have to forgive the pictures - they are at the end of the day and after some rain, taken with my cell. Oh and the ripped petal...one of the dogs thought he would see how it tasted! I will try to capture a better picture of BUSY BEING BLUE on another bloom. It was much rosier/pinker than I was expecting but this is the first bloom on a plant transplanted this summer.

ZOE ALLEGRA

Very nice! I suspected it wouldn't be as blue as the picture, but I like it! I wish my plant had a scape coming up, but that's one of them that didn't respond. I do have six or eight, maybe even more, that have scapes popping up though and we usually have nice weather here until at least Thanksgiving, so hopefully I'll get to see the blooms.

It's gorgeous, and I didn't expect it to be as blue as the pic either. And I still want it.
