Shrink! What a terrible word! The only thing you said that was worse MOVE! GASP--- a long gasp. Just bury me amongst my daylilies because if I had to move, I might as well die. Trying to move all my daylilies would kill me. Leave some, which ones, I love them all, each and everyone. That's like having to decide which grandchild you love the most. Not happening!

At least you've had time to absorb the idea of moving and try to plan a litte. Good luck!!!

I went to Maryott's site last night for a quick look and didn't get through the first group!!! so, I'll be back today. I love your photo of Bluegrass memories. It's better than Bill's to me. In fact, it makes me want it!!!

Thanks for sharing everyone, I really enjoy all the posts so much. Mona

Shannon, you have to keep checking the Maryott site. I try to check the first of each week once he starts the weekly specials. He does not change them every week, so you just have to keep checking back. You could make his site one of your favorites.

Right now the AHS is offering half a year membership again for $15. You get two issues of the Daylily Journal (a great magazine) and a password for the AHS Portal but not the voucher for the daylily. You have to join for a full year (new members only or upgrade your membership) to get the voucher. The full year membership is $25 and the voucher is worth $25. With the full year membership you get all 4 issues of the Daylily Journal.

Hi Pam! I pot up new daylilies when we receive them and keep them in a shady area that I call the "holding area". This way I can keep them watered until I am ready to plant them. I add some slow release fertilizer and sometimes milorganite to the soil mix when I pot them. Make sure that you use a mix that has good drainage or you can add some sand. I tend to leave them in pots longer than I had originally planned! I have done this for daylilies that I want to take to future plant sales, too. Once dug and divided, the foliage is trimmed before potting them up. I will say that I have more success with planting them in the ground somewhere if they were going to stay in pots for a long time. I plan to move some out of beds (plan to redo these beds) this fall or late summer to increase them for plant sales next year and the following year. I will plant these in the ground until time to sell them. If they were going to be sold in a few months, I would just pot them up. Hope this helps.

Shannon said:I joined the AHS and they send you a voucher to use with a whole bunch of daylily people that accept it.
Maryottt's was my choice of grower and he accepted the voucher. You might still be able to get one with
membership to AHS and you get a GREAT magazine and other things with membership. Green Grin!

Thanks Shannon, I was planning on joining, but I really don't need anymore Daylilies right now! Whistling
How long do have to use the voucher?

Yes I do sell but only on the Lily Auction. Will start selling when the weather cools down. You can find out everything you want to know about registering a daylily on the American Hemerocallis Website, AHS.com. You have to be a member of AHS to be able to register a flower. When you register a daylily, you get to pick your own name for it and then it joins the ranks of some 70,000 plus other registered daylilies.

Cindy, I am getting ready to join, but how did you grow it? From seed? and how do you know what other Lily crossed with it? Or do you pollinate it your self? Do you have the indoor light system like Lyle. I saw it on one of the threads. Green Grin!

Susan, my avatar is a flower called Wonder of it All, and yes, I do grow it.
I took the photo. I think it is a wonderful flower and plant. Sometimes the
blooms do not open fully because of so many ruffles, but as the nights
warm up, the blossoms do not hang as much.

I used my AHS voucher last year with MAryott's, and was so pleased I ordered from them this past spring. Of course, I asked for mid-June shipping, because I figured the weather would be best then.

It WASN'T. 100 degree temps, and you know, those daylilies have done FANTASTIC! Out of all the daylilies from several sources I have gotten this summer, those have come through the absolute best.

And DARN, I wasn't going to get any more flowers this year because of the stress of our heat and drought, and you all made me look..... Whistling

I received two orders from Maryott's on July 5th and 11th, and now at least six of the plants already have scapes with buds coming up. In fact one of them, RED CHILE RENDEZVOUS, bloomed this morning and I was taking the pot out to the lawn area to take a picture of it when I whacked the flower into the edge of a table and totally broke it -- bummer! That was a first, and I'll have to be more careful in the future. But what's left of the scape still has two buds on it, so maybe I'll get a picture yet...

That's what I love about getting plants from Maryott's -- a whole bunch of them will actually bloom this summer!

That's what I like about their plants too. You get to see what you bought
during the season. The bonuses are fantastic also. They are very, very generous.
They sent me one of their intros one year, and I love it. It's Deep in my Heart. It
has Meet Joe Black in the lineage.
