Happy Birthday, Debra! We also celebrated my friends birthday yesterday—she turned 90! Hoping you have a blessed year!
Oh, Leon, you are so wise! Loved the background on the song, and all your memories. I was born mid-50s and grew up in Anaheim, CA so I didn't know much about gardening or how to build a fire until I moved to No. Cal. (But I knew how to get to Disneyland! Lots of changes there!) A favorite memory was the party-line hampering my brother's chats with new girlfriends..
My Dad watching Jackie Gleason and golf. I grew up with the computer age, and chose it as part of my profession. Resisted cell phones until we moved from California. But what I really miss are the weekends the WHOLE family would gather. We'd spend hours talking, eating, sharing stories. People don't do that much anymore. And like Leon's song, it's really all we have. The "stuff" will either break, fade away, or get thrown through a window (new printer just didn't want to comply with my direction
) but the memories and the friendships will be with us forever. You get no comfort hugging an aluminum box. But your friends, family, that's what will get you through good times and bad. BTW, family includes the animals that reside with us. Even the elusive brown thrush needs a friend. So, find someone to hug and count blessings. And remember.
I do want to mention our society didn't do itself any favors getting rid of those switches.
God Bless you all!! Happy memories, good food, and lots of love for the new year to everyone! And of course, an abundance of blooms, no matter your plant preferences!
I'm currently enjoying my orchids.
