Sorry @valleylynn, I thought I put that in there. *Blush* I don't have a preference, tall or creeping, or a mix would be fine. Whatever would be happy with what I have to give honestly! *Blush*

if all else fails, you could always try my favorite thug 'Angelina'
Sedum (Petrosedum rupestre subsp. rupestre 'Angelina')

I swear she'd grow on the surface of the moon and the bottom of the ocean Rolling my eyes.
but I know that's probably not true--still, though, I have yet to find a place that discourages her much --and I have thriving patches growing literally on dry, hot sidewalks that bake all day

Ham, be not afraid. I've been trying to get my Angelina to take off, but here it's been less than wonderfully aggressive. This is a south facing slope with tough water. Photo was taken last spring. Angelina is the lemon-colored (small) border plants in the foreground. I'm really hoping it'll take off. Tough conditions = less aggressive growth.

Oooh... Lovey dubby

I'm expecting four 'Adam's Needle' come March and I'm a bit excited! We have some bushes (our whole yard is clay) that randomly decided to start dying after I mulched around the area they reside (not up against the bases, not too deep) and I know how hot and dry that area gets in the summer too. So I was thinking, okay Agave, too big, lol. Prickly Pear, I'd regret that one. Yucca! They seem to be in numerous yards here and I've read that they're native to the Southeast? Anywho, I'm excited to see how well they do compared to how unwell the bushes did. :glare:

Do the variegated cultivars of Yucca grow slower?

Sooo, I'm thinking it might be best to leave them until they are actively growing in the spring?
Another month should give us the answer.

webesemps said:Can anybody identify this sedum (the one that's medium green with distinct rosette-like shape on longish stems) ? Don't know where I got it. So far it's growing along a rock. Looks really small as I have to kneel closely to rock to see it. ...Not sure if this sedum is stretched out a little but it's still a nice shape to use for container planting.

Still wondering about this sedum...Anybody recognize it or can throw a few names out for me to research?

Bev, is it still looking like the January photo? Or has it changed a little? If you could get a closer view it might help.

Lynn, that's pretty much what mine look like. I buzz-cut the bunch in my rock garden and left alone the ones in front of my house.

If Pachyclados is going to run rampant is also a concern. In my rock garden I would prefer that sedums play nice with the other mounding or clump-forming plants there... like these:

NOID and Cape Blanco
Thumb of 2018-03-04/tcstoehr/bfcd43 Thumb of 2018-03-04/tcstoehr/ae9db2

Cape Blanco is everything I'd hoped for and more. What a delightful and well behaved sedum it is.

What other sedums play nice like this? Meaning they stay manageable without taking over.

I have never had a problem with pachyclados taking over. It has always been well behaved for me.
You might want to give this one a try, believe me you will love it.

I'll have to think about what else might work for you. Smiling

Hello guys, last year a friend gave me a Sedum that looked kind of boring, I didn't even plant it yet, still in nursery soil
Yesterday I noticed it and wow! It's called "Candy Chocolate Drop" I'm loving it and need to figure out a spot for it!
