It's 59 degree high here, that's cold for us. I had to make myself go outside and fertilize all of my fruit trees. I bought all these fertilizers a while ago before the pandemic and never did anything with them in the Spring, I've always been so busy in the Spring and I simply forgot. So now I just threw them down, whether it's the right time or not, I don't care.

Jasmin, I talked to a landscape architect who was making mossy rocks, she said buttermilk or yogurt in a blender with moss...blend for small bits and pour over the rocks...I bet it would work if you were having trouble getting moss to grow...cleaning the blender might be a bigger problem! (She had one for just moss.)

I too think you did an amazing job!

I have problem getting rid of baby tears here. I thought they are hard to grow here in SoCal, they are not, they even grow in the sunny area too.

Thank you for the advice. I'll certainly try it next year Smiling

Annie, one more time, thank you for your kind words. The project is obviously still a work in progress. I am sure I'll be working on this one in the years to come. I only wished I did this ten years ago.

The best gardens are ALWAYS a work in progress—once they become static they're not very interesting anymore, are they? Looking forward to seeing your progress this blooms season, Jasmin!
We just decided to take a trip to AL over New Years so I'll post more pics in a couple of weeks! Don't think there has been any work done on my retaining walls but hoping to see a lot of progress on the "lake walk"—think that's what I'll call Jeff's walkway along the shore.

Sounds fun, Liz! It will be interesting to see if any of your peonies are showing growth.

Liz, what temperature zone is your garden in AL? The big water in your pics is a lake. Right? Is it big enough to give you lake-effect snow?

It is a lake Jasmin but just barely! It's only around 20-25 acres of water. And it's a zone 8a like Adelman's...only the number of hot/cold months are just about reversed.

Jeff got a couple of new pics today of his boardwalk and it's turning out NOTHING like I thought his plan was! He finally found the inspiration pic that he shared with the builder and it's pretty amazing....the first pic is that inspiration, think he found it on Pinterest.

And the next one is a progress pic! Looks like they have the retaining wall portion of it just about finished, it'll be backfilled several inches with rock then soil over so hopefully we can eventually grow grass. Jeff's dock will be partially covered so that'll be different from inspiration pic. Getting excited! Need to start shopping for comfy chairs and a fire pit that is dock safe!

First of the decking went on today! I think that's the end that the dock will be built out from.

Liz...are you still getting to go? Love that they can still work on it.

Also, did you have iris that you were moving/planting? If so are you mixing them in with the peonies or not and how are you dong that? I am needing some ideas and thought I remembered you had iris.

Annie, I moved several hundred irises a d probably around 100 daylilies as well, have them mixed in with the peonies. They were greening up and growing the last time we were out, looked wonderful! We're flying out for the weekend next Thursday so I'll update the pics!
