We're just north of Spokane here and it does get pretty toasty in the summer. A/C is very necessary! Didn't realize the coast stayed that cool. Hmmm, maybe you need a GH or even just a hoop house to get those tomatoes warm enough. We had neighbors in Eastern OR who grew their tomatoes in raised beds inside their GH all summer long.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

YES!!!

Starting them earluer, and getting them into the gorund months earlier, would work with a low hoop tunnel. I don;t thnik I'll ever build a "walk-in" tunnel, but something tall enough for 1-2 month old plants to fit in, and keep nights above 50 or 55.

But it would have to be very large (tall and wide) to provide fall warmth, and keep the rain off. I'm thinking about containers on the deck, but they only get a few hours of sun.
