I got my "chunk" from a friend's yard, and the label said "fire spinner" but the blooms look a little more red than these, maybe it was a label from a neighboring plant that had gotten misplaced! I'm calling my Delosperma NOIDs except for the one I'm sure of J.Proffit!
Thanks Lynn for giving me the name!!! Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Here is my delo pot, the ones that are looking "sad" are pieces that had fallen off my friends pot, they'd been on her porch, so I don't really know how they'll do...
One bloomed already - I thought it was 'Fire Spinner' its related I think, but not that? Its a slightly different coloration!

That is gorgeous Greg. Lovey dubby
It looks a lot like this. http://plantselect.org/2012/05...

Jackie, at Enchanted Garden, said Fire Spinner doesn't have a very long bloom time. Sad
But they are sure enjoyable while they are blooming. Mine had just started blooming when I left for NM a week ago. I will make a note on the length of bloom season.

Does the ice plant go dormant after it blooms? I had one ot two last year which looked as if they had died, so I threw
them out. Now I am wondering how do you know if it is dormant and how do you know when it is just plain dead?

You could have a lot of dead looking plants around if they go dormant after bloom Thumbs down Rolling my eyes.

I am seeing some signs of life in various plants I was sure had died over the winter and here it is the middle of May.
How long should a person wait before cleaning out the containers and beds?

I would think that would depend on your weather, location and variety of delosperma Marilyn. I had two of my dormant delosperma just coming out of dormancy when I left for NM a week ago.
Some don't go dormant, others do. Which ones did you have?

Good morning everyone,

I know it's late morning but it rained yesterday & i waited until the porch dried some before going outside (I'm good at falling down & even up my steps) Hilarious!

I had an absolutely marvelous walk(limp) through my yard!!! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby My Rose Campion,Penstemon,Ice Plant,Day Lilies are all in bloom.I noticed the Ice Plant yesterday, such a pretty bright purply-pink whats that called "magenta" is hard to miss.I didn't know if it would give me blooms this year or not because i just got it to root on march 30 (remember the exact day cause it was my DGD's B-day and her great Gmother gave me the cuttings).I also didn't know the blooms close up when the sun goes down!! They didn't open this morning until the fog & heavy clouds moved out!I was going to take pictures but the blooms were closed when i went out, will have to make second trip with camera!!

All my semp's are doing GREAT.It's hard to hold a camera still to focus it to take a picture with one hand but i am going to try!!! Whistling
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!
