Krobra,

Your Morning Dove baby photos were classic. I was totally laughing at that little one who plopped over on it's side. Great pics!!

Looked again. I guess he didn't flop over. But still, classic!!

Carolm,

The pelicans remind me of my kids with cookies or chips. My son will touch everything so that sister doesn't want to eat it and sister will lick cookies so that brother won't eat them. Lol.

Cheers!!

I had the dogs out in the backyard earlier and three Hawks flew by, one swooped pretty low and startled me. Two of them landed in a neighbors Oak tree and I managed to get pictures of one before they both took off. Lighting was off again ...

Mama birds sure are protective of their babies. A few years ago, a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks were nesting in an Oak tree near the front of one of our local libraries and humans were being attacked as they walked from the parking lot to the library door. A few people ended up with head injuries from the talons of one of the adult hawks! Blinking It got to the point where Library employees were escorting patrons to and from their cars with an umbrella!

Oh, forgot (figured y'all were here with me looking out my window!) *Blush*
They are House Finches.
This is this the first brood of this female; she made the nest deep so that was the only day I could see them !

It's migrating warbler season here in Tennessee! Each spring and fall when they come through, I try to see if I can get some photos. I hang out by my little bird pond and wait ... and wait, lol. I lucked out and got a few nice ones this week. Chestnut sided warbler, Blackpoll warbler, Bay breasted warbler, and Yellow rumpled warbler.

Nice warbler selection & photos Sandy!

Good for you catching the hawk Lin.

Those are actually good photos of the baby house finches considering all the conditions Peggy. So silly looking at that age.

OK everybody, today is the day! Global Big Day!
https://ebird.org/news/global-...

C'mon everybody, record the birds you saw/see today. It really is easy. You can even add the photos you posted to the thread today.
If you don't have time to record your sightings today, you have a few days to do that.

Today we were quite excited to see a red kite flying over our garden. It's a bird of prey brought back from the edge of extinction. Quite big, distinctive forked tail and reddish brown under body.

Mika, oh my ... what amazing photos of that raptor!! Lovey dubby Love the colors and markings on that bird.

We have the Swallow-tailed Kite here but it's appearance has been sporadic for me. These pictures are from a few years ago.

Wow, Lin! I didn't even know such a thing existed!

Were either of you lucky enough to see them hover? I once saw several hovering together, appearing to look down at something. Must have been snack time!

Thanks, Joanna, Lin. I always struggle to get good pics of birds in flight, am experimenting with various camera settings. Love your swallow-tailed kite, what an amazing tail! Lovey dubby - I don't think we have that one here... are they large?

The red kite was doing circuits, so flew over where we were a couple of times. I'm fairly sure it was looking for prey - what is really interesting is seeing much smaller birds doing a courageous group attack on these bigger raptors, presumably to chase them away from their babies. If I can I'll get a pic of an 'attack' (but don't hold your breath! Hilarious! )
