Yes, but they grow and will fill the 4 inch pot by May. I use glasses at the 225 level Shrug!
I will start transplanting about mid Feb to 1st of march. I plant out some time between Mothers day and the first of June. Last year was so cold until into June. At this time they should be 8-10 inches tall and become very root bound in those pots. I think that moving seedlings from seed tray to 6pack to four inch is a waste of time and they seen to shock every time you move them. Lost a few when transplanting.
With the big leaves they sun burn easy when first put out. These begonia are more like a cocktail begonia, when harden off, but biger and the blossoms are different. Of couse that is PNW sun. I have never gardened any place other than here so sun for me my be different. I'm sure you know all this but my 2 cents Whistling

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I've never grown the dragon wings, but I do think they're so pretty.

I sowed 12 cells of dragon wings on Jan 29 and as of yesterday I had 11 sprouts. They're such tiny specks they're barely visible, but they were there. I guess I'll uncover them today. I hope they do better than last year's begonias.

If I don't kill them! Any plant is at risk if in my care in pots. In the ground, I can grow almost anything.

Dragon Wing growing conditions are more like the cocktail begonias/fibrous. They are tuff not anything like the tuber begonias. Be carfefull about taking the lid of to soon. They dry out fast when the lid is off.

Thanks for the help. They've just sprouted and they're tiny, barely visible green specks. I have them in an APS system, bottom watered, and I took the lid off this morning. Not a good idea?

The thing is, the APS keeps things very moist, constantly bottom watering. Though I've never grown the dragon wings before, everything I've ever used them for has thrived. And I always take the dome off as soon as things sprout.

I used one of the 12 cell units

Confused I appreciate your vote of confidence Confused

The poor things could probably freeze in this house. I know I feel frozen. It's 19° outside now with a wind chill of 4°. Overnight low is to be 10 with wind chills of 0 to 10 below. Inside my house feels about the same. And electric heat is the pits.

Well, that's the thing with weather- it's always fickle. A winter storm blew in and chased our warm winter, at least for a few days

The weather sneaks right up on you. Our cold snap is only supposed to last a few days though, trending up until we return to highs in the 40s on Wednesday. At least it's sunny today, unlike yesterday. I can tolerate about anything for a few days. It's months on end of the snowy, frigid stuff that depress me.

Only my husband and I froze inside the house, the begonias don't seem to mind. One hasn't shed the pellet material yet.
