I received my order from the Trimmers yesterday and got them planted today after an overnight soak. They sent absolutely huge beautiful plans -- I'm so impressed! I ordered BAJA CALIFORNIA, FRINGY, TET. PEPPERMINT DELIGHT, PORT ORANGE, and RANDY STEPHENS. And as a gift plant they included another of their new introductions, COCONUT GROVE, which I believe is the same introduction that Lyle received with his order. It's an absolutely gorgeous cream colored daylily with a truly elegant edge, and I'm so thrilled to have it!

Thumb of 2012-03-03/Betja/30efde

All are double fans except BAJA CALIFORNIA and TET. PEPPERMINT DELIGHT, which are both huge single fans. Couldn't be more pleased!

Beautiful as always from Trimmer's. They are such nice people.
You made some very nice choices too. You are in for such a treat
come bloom season. Many of their plants re-bloomed three times
here. Wonderful surprise, they were.

I realize these "leeks" will shrink down to normal size in just a few short months, but I just love seeing them so huge and healthy here in the winter months. However, the smaller fans are just as capable of growing beautiful scapes too -- I love them all! And I think I may have two or three orders arriving next week, which will be bad because I always want to get everything planted within 24 hours after an overnight soak -- and I'm VERY SLOW!

I set here on my pc going: ohhhhh, ahhhhhh, lovellllly, aren't then just soooooo beautiful!!! I love seeing those huge plants! As with the rest of you, I know they will shrink, but don't you just love to see them when they are that green and big.

I was just telling my daughter that they have had all the "right stuff" for developing into this leek size. Some stuff that we can't have, hours of warm sunshine daylily. The rest we can replace for them in our gardens but not that unless you can afford a greenhouse with all the bells and whistles.

Betty, they are wonderful. I want to see photos this Spring when they bloom and be sure to repost a picture of the fans so we'll remember what you planted and what they produces when they bloomed.

Lovely things they are! Blessings, Mona

I'll do my best -- but I potted up all but one to try some pollinating and don't know how that will affect growth, etc. I I think with my Marietta and Floyd Cove orders I'll be putting most in the ground, though.

Being in pots is fine. I grow mine in pots also. I think they can grower bigger in pots but I sometimes wonder if being in a pot my slow down new fans from developing.

Again, your plants are wonderful, now I want mine, too.

Blessings, Mona

I am so glad I called them yesterday to tell them to ship my order on the 12th. Seems as though she couldn't find my order and had to make me a new one. Thank God they still had what I wanted. I would have been horribly upset if they had sold all of Baja California.

I am getting my Floyd Cove order on about the 12th, I'm having them send those out on the 10th. I'm trying to stagger the orders so they don't all arrive at the same time.

I grow all my daylilies in big pots, I am busy now getting new pots and much potting soil and fine pines.

This Thursday is my birthday and happy birthday to me when my stuff gets here.

This is a bit off topic but I saw my first iris stalk yesterday, so spring is on the way.

I will post some pictures when my orders arrive.

Betty, I know you were excited to get such a lovely order. Trimmers are the best and so nice too.

Dot

Floyd Cove was supposed to ship on Feb. 27th, and Karen said she would email me when they shipped, but so far I haven't heard from them or gotten the order. I know Karen went to Australia for the last two weeks, so they've probably gotten behind. Marietta is supposed to ship on Monday the 5th (14 plants), so now I'm thinking my Floyd Cove order (11 plants) will arrive at about the same time as the Marietta order. And then, of course, I just HAD to place a second order with Bell's because I just discovered they are a gold mine of Salter daylilies, which are really hard to find. They provide no email address and I mailed in my order on Monday -- and they are soooooo prompt that I'm thinking that order (7 more plants) will arrive at just about the same time as the others... YIKES! Why do I do this to myself?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dot!

Hi Dot, I bet you are really glad you called. I'm sure it would be very easy to misplace an order when you get to be that big. Happy Birthday to you and may you have many more filled with lush daylilies growing by your door. I'd love to get Baja California. Maybe next year I can buy one from you!!

Blessings to all, Mona
