Does this plant have Eight Miles High in it's background? I really wanted 8MH when it first came out. Of course money was the deciding factor but I also read that it didn't do good in our Southern heat and humidity. It was said to get crown rot really bad. So, between those two things, I didn't ever try to buy a fan. I do have a few seedlings that I've grown from seed that has it as a parent but they do not look anything like 8MH.

I hope everyone is having a great day, it was beautiful here this morning. A crisp 45 when I got up with beautiful sunshine. Now it's only 53 and cloudy but atleast the wind isn't blowing like yesterday.

Blessings, Mona

So that has extra ruffles near the throat that form the doubly look?

I like the look. And the white edge on such a rich purple.

Thanks Juli - The seedling has some nice things going for it. My sister has the seedling, which I will introduce this year she was kind enough to give me a few fans.
Big sisters usually remind you of all the times they covered for you, when you were a kid, so it's a never ending payback... Big Grin

Betty - I hope the seedling will continue to increase at the same rate it has in the past. I may have a small amount to release in the fall, I will hybridize with it this season.

Thanks Jan!

Mona - The parents of the seedling is. FORTUNE'S DEAREST X BLISSFUL BLACKBERRY PIE.

I swear that side view is awesome!!! it really does have the color of a "Blissfull Blackberry Pie"!!! My dear mother-n-law always made a blackberry cobbler that was to die for. She made it in a white ovenwear bowl. The colors of this daylily and her cobbler are uncanny alike.

Nice memory of a wonderful lady. I wish she was still with us. She is sorely missed. Thanks Lyle, Mona

Steph - The seedling will be finished this spring and the discription will be according to the bloom habit...

Thanks Jake! This year should be a better year. I hope you will make it to my open garden this year

Mona - Thanks for sharing that with us.

I find Blissful Blackberry Pie to be a nice pollen parent.

Sib to above seedling..

Lyle, I absolutely love each and every one pictured! The sib to your utterly fantastic one pictured at the top of the thread is a gorgeous bicolor (bitone?), and I love the little watermark that shows the sculpting. Does it ever show teeth? But I love the edging on it the way it is, and I particularly love the shading on the sepals. Beautiful!

And what can I say about the HELINE PRESSLEY X BLISSFUL BLACKBERRY PIE? Each of those is breathtaking to me! And the combination of the three together is fantastic. Now I'm going to have to look up HELINE PRESSLEY to see what it looks like!

Lyle, are you working with bitones and bicolors? Or, are they, as the painter Bob Ross would say...Happy accidents? I really enjoy most bitones. Bicolors can be very cool also! Those are some interesting seedlings. They scream "cross me ... There is magic to come! "

Thumbs up

Those are all nice seedlings from BBP. Quite lovely with the
patterns, eyes, and edges. Very different babes from the same
cross in those last three pics. Sometimes they are like kids who
look nothing like their siblings. And then, sometimes they do.

Betty the sib has shown signs of teeth, and may work well with something like Larry's Obsession, Mort Morss, and Cosmic Sensation. If you are going to work with the toothy ones you can also check out Karol Emmerich she uses some of the dark colors for her toothy ones.
Different photo of the sib – I still have some of this seedling.

Juli – I don’t hybridize for the bi-tones, they are happy accidents. I think most hybridizers (though they like to think they control those 22 or 44 chromosomes) get their best seedlings from “happy accidents” .

Two of my favorite bi-tones seedlings.

Shirlee – Good observation ‘that was my thought of the cross the seedlings show a wide diversity, something some crosses fail to produce.

Michele – The HP X BBP seedling was a surprise I will test the eye on that seedling to see if it will hold, or give up the eye for future crosses.

I love all those last three, Lyle -- and I love those teeth on the BBP sib! I think the bicolors/bitones are absolutely fantastic -- and that last one is to die for!!! I'm getting TET LAVENDER BLUE BABY from Michele in the next month or so, and I'm glad to see how beautiful your resulting seedling is from using it as a pod parent!

I know I have several "favorites" of your seedlings, but that last one and the one at the beginning of this thread are two at the very top of all of them for me!
