Took tomatoes and a yellow squash to share at work, they liked it.
Plant it and they will come.

Made my 5 pound bone-in beef roast, I bought with a gift card I got some years back, so: I like beef roast with mashed potatoes (REAL) and cucumber salad.

I peeled, ( I found last time unpeeled cucumbers are fine in a dinner salad but not other wise) four cucumbers sliced them and sliced five small garden onions (different varieties) with bite, and added a yellow sweet pepper (from fridge as I have a lot of chiles in the garden but this one was use now or toss).

Salted heavily with Sea Salt, peppered heavily with pepper from a grinder, let it sit for water to seep out an dump out later.
Cooked the roast over a wood fire, mostly apple wood but a large decades old chunk of Honduran Mahogany and pieces of boards.
Seared over coals on one side, flipped it and slid it over to the cooler side for approx. one hour.
Drained the cuke salad, added heavy cream, half & half, and a good pour of white vinegar. (I have used othe vinegars but white is pretty much the best.)

Sliced some the other half and I, but, when I went back for seconds, I cut off a bone almost a foot in length, with some meat attached, and ate that like one does a piece of chicken.
I cannot afford to buy beef like I did in years past, approx. $500 plus or minus a year for various cuts, (the chuck roast cost 35 dollars, and the foo-foo stuff I used to get online makes that look cheap) but after this I am going throw away some more money on a roast or LARGE steak or two any way. nodding

cucumber, (the first) green beans, sungold tomatoes, yellow squash.

I noticed today that even though yellow (crookneck, straightneck) squash and zucchini are both summer squash, their stalks are very different. Thick on zucchini, thin on yellow squash.

Cross posted, that roast sounds delicious.
Plant it and they will come.

Well, I went out to water this morning to discover the family of ground squirrels dug up two rows of gorgeous sweet carrots and a row of potatoes! They left me the holes and all of the carrot tops!
I had to choke back the tears! I ate 4 carrots out of two 15 foot rows!
Sometimes I get so discouraged I feel like quitting!
Fortunately, they don't like green beans - at least not yet.

I ateā€¦ tomatoes. I have a bumper crop of cherries and also the last of the 45 Better Boys on that plant. I need to harvest pole beans because I finally have enough for a meal. I'm leaving the onions to harvest as big dry onions this fall. I've never done this before. They are pretty big now.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

I ate all the cherry tomatoes I could stand (which is considerable) fresh off the vine while I pruned the vines while my big dog Freya stole my bell peppers and munched on them. Blinking

I do not have many problems with critters, but some times, I will put out rabbit food, whole bag, in spring, or get a large bag of peanuts to keep the squirrels busy. I tip my hat to you.

South garden I put in this:
Zanadoo Sweet Corn
Martian Jewels Sweet Corn
Tuxana Sweet Corn
Double Red Sweet Corn

Had some Tuxana, Martian Jewels and Double Red today.

Not greatly impressed with Double Red but Tuxana and Martian Jewels is pretty much like old school for taste, though Tuxana ears are large. Thumbs up

I'm so glad you found something that works for you. When I started seriously gardening in 2008, I planted "extra" for the critters, and put out feed for them and definitely water for the birds and animals.
My husband shook his head and laughed at me. He said you know, you are just making a plentiful environment for them and they will procreate and become many. I did not believe they would become so problematic as to take ALL of my produce. Oh, how wrong I was Grumbling

That's exactly why you do not encourage or attract wild animals into your yard. Blinking I strife to let animals know the yard is off limits. But they still come up during the night, root up the yard, gnaw on plants and poop everywhere. Grumbling
