I can't decide if I want to be SoCal's neighbor for fruit and lemon bars or Rita's for tomatoes and peppers!

@Deeby Perhaps you could be a seasonal snow bird. A vegie/fruit bird. Hilarious!

3 fruit trees arrived. We planted pixie cherry plum hybrid, it's actually a plum but tastes very sweet like cherry. I bought some from the farmers market and want to grow them in my yard. I also planted Peter's Honey Fig. This fig should be delicious.

Thumbs up Wow, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a cherry plum hybrid. It sounds delicious.

It's very good, if it grows here, about 500-800 chill hours. I'm taking a risk here.

It sounds like something I'd like because I have never in all of my life tasted a plum that was actually sweet. That's why I don't like them, because they're always sour.

Deeby, you must not have tasted green gage plums, they are very sweet and crunchy. I had a Santa Rosa plum in my garden once, they are sweet but soft. I have it in my yard now. It's 4x1. But the Italian plum is already dead.

Crunchy and sweet, unlike Santa Rosa plum, very soft.

Different strokes, but plums, peaches, and pears are not supposed to be crunchy, IMHO. Smiling When they are, it's usually something that has been bred for shipping, rather than taste. I suppose that's because I remember eating them while sitting in the tree. It's sad that many of the younger folks don't have a clue why they should eat this stuff, because they have never tasted it in it's original form. Showing my age here!

Sally, I'd like to find a tangy, "old tomato taste" yellow tomato. True yellow not gold. Yellow Pear was gross!

Asian pears have to be crunchy, it's weird otherwise.
