Wow, you can sure tell that spring has really hit Fort Worth! Absolutely beautiful, Dot! I think my garden is way behind yours at this point. And thanks so much for posting all these eye candy pictures for us! So far I'm not seeing a lot of stalks out there on the TB's, so I'm a little worried that this year might be a bust, or at least a disappointment, out here in good ole' Bakersfield! Well, maybe my daylilies will carry me through!

Donegal is a very little plant for me. I moved it to a better spot and it has rewarded me with a little stalk this year. It was in the back of the bed and I thought I had lost it. Since these darn irises spread all over the place and grow together, it was sitting beside another plant and when we had a lot of cold in 2010, it bloomed for me. So I moved it to the front of my little intermediate bed where I could see it better. Then I took a picture of it and sent it to Keith Keppel, who identified it for me. I knew it was one of his, it blooms like an SDB for me. Here is how it looked in 2010. I'm sure more cold would make it happier.

Thanks for more wonderful pictures! I was excited to see some swelling in some fans on medians in my garden yesterday so bloom is coming.

I too have a few with bud stalks starting to come up. Three are well on their way. Rare Edition has like 9 of them with one already showing some purple! The other two are Frothingslosh and Victoria Falls.

I love him. I've always had lots of opossums in my garden. They share the cats' food, eating out of the cat dishes at the same time as the cats, and have never had an aggressive impulse. I used to have a whole family of them living on my deck and was able to pet them.

There is an animal coming to my emerging bulbs and digging.I believe it might be a skunk or opossum looking for worms in the compost.

Can you put pepper around them?

We have skunk here digging for grubs. Not in the gardens though.

Time for the Contech water scarecrow, I'm a tellin' you.

What ever is digging they dont go very deep and the lilies dont seem to mind.
