Everyone,

My crazy "Sterling Innerst" quest. I was doing some research on the internet and found a "Dave's Garden" member who has five(5) of Sterling's cultivars that I need. I need someone to contact them for me and see if they would help me out with my quest to collect all of Sterling's Introductions/Registrations.

The name of the member is: Cheesy's

The info on Dave's says that they are in West Bend Wisconsin and they last commented on Dave's on 8/09/2011.

Here are the cultivars I am looking for:

Finsterwald IB 93
Hackmatack IB 96
Muggles SDB 99
Pibbling SDB 93
Squiddler SDB 85

also interested in Leanna TB 97 Meininger (the name of my niece)

This person may have more, but this is what they posted online.

my email is; [email protected]

Thanks!

I sent "cheesy" a D-mail. That was the closest name I found.

His/her TradeList only included 3 Wants, no Haves: Bearded Iris.

>> West Bend Wisconsin

That's what I see, too.

Thanks RickCorey. Much appreciated.

Tom- Thanks for the information. I am trying to collect all 206 of Sterlings introductions. The best way is to trade or get gifts (I like to call them "contributions to the cause") verses buying them. This way I only pay for shipping. I have already 96 of the 206 and did not pay for any of them(ok; cost of gas for half a tank). Blue J has 17 cultivars of Sterlings and like 5 of Joan Roberts (Yes, I am collecting her stuff too). I have a spreadsheet of all of his cultivars with about 60 columns of all of my documented sources. I want to use vendors like BlueJ as a secondary source rather than a primary.

I love Sterling Innersts things but sadly they don't do so well for me. My mild winters here mean that many don't bloom for me. I used to go to his gardens several years ago. He had a beautiful garden that I went to back in the nineties. I had Finsterwald, but it didn't bloom very often for me, so I gave it away. I think all I have left of his is Progressive Attitude and Megglethorp. Megglethorp doesn't bloom for me every year, but I love it so much I still keep it. I forgot, I also have Frothingslosh.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I had posted a thread about an article that I wrote of this quest before, but keep forgeting that I did that on Cubits and not here ATP. Here is the url for the article (published by the Delaware Valley Iris Society);

http://www.dvis-ais.org/newsle...

and here is the link to the pdf of the spreadsheet that shows what I have and what I need in my Sterling Innerst quest.

I did send the webmaster an update which has not been published. I now have "Grobswitcher" and "Pretty Generous" and "Jeepers" is now "promised".

A side note: This is more than just a personal quest. My local iris societies and the Region (Delaware Valley Iris Society, Susquehanna Iris Society, Region 3 AIS) are also part of this effort. The idea is to preserve the "Local" hybridizers plants to ultimately display them at a University, Memorial Garden, Arboretum. Here is the url for the DVIS hybridizer "wiki".

When I sent my updated list of Sterling Innerst cultivars to the webmaster, I included a list for "Joan Roberts" as well. So there will be three/four soon (I guess I am counting the sisters Kegerise as one as I have their introductions combined on one listing.

I forgot that Grobswitcher was his, I have it also.

OMG I didn't know that he passed away. I loved going to his gardens, but hadn't been for several years. The last time I went to his gardens, he had moved from the garden of his that I loved so much. He had some raised beds that were surrounded by rocks and it was so beautiful. When he moved, he had all the rocks removed so he could sell the older house. I went there not knowing he had moved and was grief striken that the beds were no longer there. His latest house had a field and wasn't as pictureske, but was a nice piece of property. I never went again.

I made contact!!

Thanks to Polly & Rick for sending "Chessy" messages. I got an email from her. She would be glad to help, but.......

She moved two to three years ago (downsizing) and she does not have any of the five! Confused

It is a bummer, esspecially for the SDBs which are the hardest group to find. Oh well; we tried.

Thanks again; you are a great community.
