Yes, Lynn, the chicks are cheeping away at the thoughts of new space to multiply in! Hilarious!

I can almost here all the excitement Janice. I'm all ears!

I love the growth habit of this medium sized semp, with last years offsets setting close to the hen and little babies popping out all over the place.

All three are gorgeous Sandi. Stunning photo of Rouge.

Your calcareum sure looks a lot like S. 'Pink Pearl'. Do you have that one?

My goodness, that is some wind you guys get in Denver.
Can I add that one to your box that is going out tomorrow? You can grow it by your NOID and see if it one of the missing Pink Pearls. Thumbs up

Thank you! I would love one. I know the NOID is not 'Pink Pearl'. It came from Lowe's. I tried so hard to take such great care of the single rosette that I had of 'Pink Pearl'. I moved it constantly and carefully watch it for rot. For it to be blown away! I also lost a very special cactus during the same wind storm.

I don't know Lynn, the calcareums seem really hard to tell apart to me. Shrug! The ones I have, I have not been able to tell apart. Of course, Greenii is the only one I have in quantity at the moment. I need to get the others to grow out better, then I will be able to better compare. Do you have the ability to distinguish them?

I know I can't tell S. calcareum from S. calcareum Mrs. Giuseppi. I may have to grow the two side by side to see how they are different.

S. calcareum Pink Pearl looks quite pink in the spring, so it's easy to tell then, and later it has a slightly different look to it. Kind of longer. and the dark tips are smaller.

Just acquired S. calcareum Greenii a few days ago and am looking to acquire more just so I can see how they are different. S. calcareum Sir William Lawrence is supposed to grow bigger, from what I've read.

Then there's S. Griggs Surprise.

You are right. I was looking at my Pink Pearl this morning and it does appear to be longer and larger than my Greenii. (I thought I sent Greenii last year?)

Not to me, but maybe to PIcklePuff. I just recently found out she has it.

I have a Greenii that I got from Perennial Obsession. It is quite different from my Pink Pearl. Other than Oddity those are the only calcareum type semps I have. Well actually Oddity isn't really a calcareum but a natural hybrid of S. archnoideum and S. calcareum, I did have S. calcareum 'Monstrose' but both rosettes bloomed and died.

S. calcareum 'Pink Pearl'

S. calcareum 'Greenii' As you can see my Greenii has struggled. Maybe this year it will take off and be happy.

Lynn, did you get a Griggs Suprise when you were here? If not, I can always send some. It's different enough to be worth having.

I always thought S. Oddity was a sport of the common green tectorum since when it reverts, that's what it looks like.

Hi Shannon. They really are so much fun to watch grow. Some times I think I can hear them laughing and playing out in the beds. Whistling

This is what I found out about Oddity. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Oddity') Read 'Other Details'. And what really makes things confusing is that everything I find says Grigg's Surprise is the same plant as Oddity. It was such a treat to see both growing in your one of your beds, almost side by side, and could see there really is a difference in the two plants.

Tabby, I have one small Grigg's Surprise from last year. So far it is looking good. I took these pictures today.

I heard that Grigg's Surprise was discovered by somebody named Grigg and is a natural sport of S. calcareum.

I have a "normal" offset growing in my S. Oddity. This year I think I'll separate it out and put it somewhere and label it rather than toss it amongst the other common hen and chicks where it'll get lost.. Then I'll have an S. albidum.

I think I've got babies on my S. Grigg's Surprise so I should go take pictures and post them in this thread.
