Yes, moonbeam did very well here till I killed it. Sad I hear it has the longest bloom time. I looked everywhere for some seed but no luck, I think it might be sterile and only divisions are true. I had it in full sun and did give it a nice hair cut when it was bloomed-out. Very long bloom time, that's what I like. Not a lot of space here in city, gotta make every plant earn his keep! Hilarious!
I will look for another now that spring is here. I also like the Jethro Tull and red dwarf, I have seeds for red dwarf and Baby Sun I am pretty sure. Maybe I will just start some seed in the house and see what happens. Sooner or later I should run across another Moonbeam. Lovey dubby

Tee, what is that Coreopsis you opened the thread with? Green Grin!

I forgot about this one- Coreopsis Nana. I bought one last year (4" pot). It didn't bloom much, but it was a new little plant. Hoping for more flowers this year now that it's established.

It's my new (last year) Center Stage that I'm anxious to see. I always doubt claims like "never out of bloom"

There's a nice red one for you, Susan. Yes, those claims often don't seem to hold true ... especially in some of my many micro-climates. Shrug!

I purchased a chocolate coreopsis one year from Lowes it was a beautiful plant ...it died , they replaced it , then I looked it up and only good to zone 6... so when the second one died I complained . they said they sell same plants in several states and often get ''perennials '' not good for our area. They gave me a refund Angry I would have rather had Chocolate Confused

I think that's what happens with a lot of the coreopsis as well as some others I've purchased here. The varieties they get may not really be the best for our climates. There is a big difference between zones.

Shrug!

When you get down to it, all plants should have labels with zone ratings. It's not always true. Even some decent nurseries do the same- sell plants simply as "perennial" when they're not labeled for that zone.

There are differences in half zones too. I lost all of the geranium Cheryls Shadow. Bluestone rated it Z6 but when googled it came up too cold.

I think sometimes the nurseries exaggerate just a little, but you could use it as an annual. I always buy a tropical hibiscus every spring, depending on size they might run between twelve and fifteen dollars but they bloom, repeatedly all summer and thru fall, up till the first frost. What a show! Always thought it was worth the money. Green Grin!

Thanks, Karen love the Red Coreopsis. Just found my Red Dwarf seeds and some other seeds I don't know what they are or what color they are they are called 'Coreopsis lanceolata'.

Has anyone tried the purple ones they sell, I already have an order in with them, must look for a shipping date. Maybe I could add a couple of coreopsis.

Good question. Blinking
I will stick with what I know, buy a Moonbeam and plant some red seeds, I think they are an annual in my zone. (red dwarf) Confused

I dont load up my containers with tropicals but I expect to have them as annuals. I enjoy certain plants so its worth haveing them for a year.
I had a idea to buy a hibiscus but somehow it was fleeting and I am done with orders for this year.
