Beautiful blooms. They've really made me excited for my trip to Floyd Cove next month.
We have blue tailed skinks here in SC tho I'm not sure the proper name for them.

BTW, if anyone wants pics of particular daylilies from the Central FL hybridizers, let me know and I'll do my best to get shots of them for you when I go to Mecca.

It was a yellow and red day here.

Leslie, I dp have a picture request. I'm really interested in the toothy flowers, and also the smalls/minis -- and particularly Elizabeth Salter's new introductions. I would love to see pictures of any with teeth, plus if you go to the Salters' I would love to see pictures of her smalls/minis. Hope that's not too much to request. I'm particularly interested in seeing a picture of her MIX AND MATCH, introduced this spring. I'm trying some hybridizing now, and my goal at the moment is coming up with toothy smalls/minis after seeing that terrific yellow one that Lyle has come up with!

And thanks in advance for any pictures you can get!

Leslie,

We have the blue tailed ones here as well. If the body has stripes they are called five lined skinks. The juveniles have the blue tail and lose the coloring as adults and one of the common names other than the above is the blue tailed skink.

I hope you enjoy your trip to South Florida. We may go the week after the Mecca, but not certain.

OK Betty. I've made note of those for you.

Thanks Tink. I'll see if I can find adult ones.

Look what the cats dragged in today. This is on the deck after I opened the door to go out and it ran across my foot to beat me.

Here's a photo of one on my back porch last year (at my old place)
Thumb of 2012-05-01/tink3472/a604c3

The adults are usually not seen (they are the smart ones) but I have seen one once and they lose the blue color to the tail and there heads can be (not always) a reddish color. It would hang out under my grill with it's head sticking slightly out waiting on insects to land on the concrete.

Thanks for all your hard work Michele. I'm sure hoping that you get some blooms on your babies. It will be a treat with each bloom you do get.
