My DBF asks me not to show him buds, only flowers. But I live for new buds and just gotta share. Feel free to show us what you are anticipating.

That is my Catasetum Jumbo Pearl x Jumbo Babylon. There's a third spike forming in the back, too.

Here's Schoenorchis fragrans today.

Ceratostylis rubra hasn't bloomed in years so I was very happy to notice this bud today.

I enjoy seeing the buds. I have some things developing on some of my orchids, but they are all so new to me that I can't tell spikes from leaves or buds. I'm just watching them to see what they develop into.

I am definitely into lots of anticipation all the time. Smiling
Your 'Haiku Mint' looks great!
If I could grow and "bud" Catasetums like that I would be in 7th heaven.

......as Ursula waits on her Den aggregatum and realizes it might be too late for a bud-picture.....

So Catasetums. I stop all water in late fall/winter. When the plant grows roots two inches long, I start watering (usually Feb-April). Then a spike will start and by spring the plant should bloom.

Oops. Fixed those months. Feb to April. I think I own too many plants from the southern hemisphere!! Rolling my eyes.
I would encourage you to try again, Ursula. Hey if I can do it.....

Wow, enlarging that last one made me wonder if the plant had bugs, but I think it's just the way the light was shining. Sure can't see any in person.

Yes, Buds are beautiful! The whole growth cycle is amazing.

I'm really excited about this! Here is the very first spike I ever seen that wasn't already on an orchid when it was purchased. It's Bc. Hoku Gem 'Freckles'. Now, if this isn't a spike, just don't tell me.
