Bree, you grew up a flask? Great! Thumbs up

And congrats Kathy! Perhaps it was the fairly sunny Summer? And yes, they will...

Thanks! ive deflasked about 3 paph flasks, 1 cymbidium one and this Zygo one and do have a few of each left. hehe! I didn't have the right set up when i did most though and about half ended up gradually dying, scale didnt help with the outside ones either.. Im still babying a tray of paph seedlings inside and in my greenhouse i have a tray of half cymbids and half zygos. Easy to deflask but just make sure the plants are neally to the top of the flask and decent sized. I got some of mine real small and was to keen to deflask (didn't think i could keep them alive in the flask) but ended up having to baby them to much.
It may be a while till the Cymbids and Paphs flower though. Whistling
I keep my paphs too dry, not enough air movement and in too much light according to most paph growers. I don't know why yours won't flower Kathy, our temp.s must be different thats all i can say because its neally the only thing i can get to flower, you should be able to you'd think. I only grow them in under 70% green shadecloth (but there not burning or lightening at all.) With no fan or vents (we do live near a river so there a breeze alot) and i only get around to watering them about once a week(it does rain though) i try to water the seedling paphs abit more but when i water everythings dry. Its usually pretty humid here and we hardly get a frost. All my orchids stay outside in winter.

Bree, interesting details. I think you did fine, reading the yield you achieved on each flask.

You say "we hardly get a frost" and "All my orchids stay outside in winter." Which means your orchid may see some really low temperatures in the Winter.

About 5 or 6 years ago I bought a Paph flask with 30 babies. Bird attacks and all sorts of factors made me lose most of them, but I have now one blooming size plant and 2 smaller ones. But I think it was worth the experience for me, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Will I do it again? Probably not, since I like to see them blooming in my lifetime. Smiling

Bree, our temps outside are in the teens F most of the winter (snow cover most winters never goes away. some weeks are -20 F with windchill!) so they all go inside. The paphs are inside in 65-80 degrees F, watered lightly daily (always too much I think). Fairly shady light in and out. Temps are 45-90 F outside in the summer and early fall. When they bud I give them a bit more light. Last winter I put my older spicerianum in some nice indirect light all winter to see if it would initiate bloom which works with my phal but no go.

Your Calanthe look excellent.
My Calanthe Kozu is planted into the cage and the leaves look by now fairly light green and not in a long shot that good.

Cute Denrobium rigidum!
