I've had over 70 Miscellaneous proposals waiting for over a week now. Is it possible there's a bug?

Hi Joy, thanks for asking about this, and thank you for contributing to the database.

There's no bug. The issue is that most or all of these plants are tradename patented plants and I have to confirm each one. I am certain that many of them are incorrect and therefore I have to go through them one by one and figure out what to do.

For example, many of the proposed plants have an identical tradename. But in actuality, each plant must have a unique trade name. What you are seeing is actually a "Series name" is being entered incorrectly as a trade name. We have a different field for trade name.

I have a similar request from another member, to go through and add the Supertunia petunias, and I have an email out to proven winners for confirmation on some of that. These are among the ones you submitted as proposals.

Going through 71 proposals is a daunting task and it's something I have not carved out the time to do yet. It's something I want to do as soon as I can, though. It just gives me a bit of a headache. Sad

Thanks Dave. That makes perfect sense. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a bug. Smiling

I tip my hat to you.

These trade names are driving me crazy. Sad I think even some of the companies who use them don't fully understand the process.

I agree, I made a few attempts to make some corrections on things I had come across and grew frustrated with either that lack of clear confirmation for a name or just too many variations that I soon gave up!

And Petunias are particularly irritating in that respect. They came out with the Dolce series recently, and this year they have the Dolcissima series, but the cultivar names are all the same as in the Dolce line, and I see no difference in the size or color of the blooms. I still don't know whether they're two different series or not.
