Rhyncholaelia glauca is blooming some more. I love the scent at sundown, a fresh citrussy smell.

Renanthera monachica flowers from a very small plant.

And Epidendrum parkinsonianum shows 3 more blooms.
I haven't taken a picture of the plant lately, but here is one from last Spring to show the growth habit of this Epi. The plant has added more growth in the meanwhile.

Nice show, Ursula. I especially like the Epidendrum parkinsonianum. I'm going to add it to my want list.

Jim, that Dend. is so pretty, and I like the Phals with a story. Some of my favorite plants have a story behind them.

Nice plants Ursula. I like the Asctm garayi, even the leaves are interesting! I like the Red Jewel, too!

Thanks, Jo and Lindsey.

This has been an incredible day, even by Florida standards. I had received 4 inches of rain by 9:00 AM this morning as the pool overflowed. I got soaked running errands after that and came home to find the rain gage overflowed at 6 inches. Now, two hours later, it is still raining hard. I'm guessing 8 full inches and still coming down. I can't wait until the rainy season. So far, no major damage. It's a great day to work on my Cycad presentation.

Jim, it doesn't sound like fun!
Kathy, I just saw the weather report for tomorrow, more snow on the way... brrrrr, where is Spring? Shall we go South? But then reading Jim's report, maybe better not.

End of the month!
My Darwinara Charm 'Reinbow' bloomed white! So disappointed! I wrote to the seller and he said this can happen. Grumbling I was expecting a beautiful color like his pics.

Saw all of the terrible weather in Florida on the news. I have noted a couple of Floridians in the group and hope that you (and your plants) are all safe and dry. I came home ready to hunker down for a big storm and vowed not to leave my house until it was gone, but it really did not materialize...just enough to call off school in the district where I was supposed to work today! Yay. I will never be too old to get excited about a snow day, especially one where very little snow actually falls!

Kathy, I don't understand how a seller can say something like 'this can happen' regarding your
Darwinara Charm 'Reinbow' .
If the plant were mislabeled wouldn't a respected seller feel compelled to make it right? Or is it common for that amount of variation in orchid flower colors?
I've got some new photos today, a new noid Phal. and a secondary bloom on Onc. (Rex Van Delden x Sherry Baby) 'Fragrance Tree'... I just found the label under all the spagnum moss in the pot!

The Binosas bloom a long time!
So Jo came to see my orchids today and when I was showing her the white I was disappointed with, I noticed that the color is now a cream and the scent (heavenly double Neo) has come in. So this may be the "yellow" of the 4.

Let me know if you see the difference in color between the older bloom and newer bloom.

Kathy, I saw more difference in the color (more yellow in the new bloom) at your house than I do in the photo.

Hi all, I went to Kathy's (Boojoom's- Just incase there are other Kaathy's) house today. What a wonderful show. I learned a lot and got a new Phal (Kathy, please send me it's name). Very exciting. Many questions answered just by looking as well, such as the variation in striation (I am sure that they is a technical word for this) of psuedobulbs, the right leaf colors and how the exposed roots can look. Thankfully, most of them were the answers I wanted!

We also went to a local grower's house. Roger was very informative and had some beautiful Catts in bloom. While there I purchased Epc. Siam Jade 'AVO' and Brassavola Little Stars. The Siam Jade has a bud! I will photograph it when it opens. Roger spent a long time talking orchids...some of it I understood, some I didn't. I am so impressed with how willing to share information and "talk plants" every orchid enthusiast has been. Kathy spent HOURS with me and Roger was also very generous with his time. I also saw Kathy's extensive outdoor gardens, which are already coming to life. It was awe inspiring.

I hope that everyone else enjoyed some quality orchid time this weekend.

Jo, your report brings a big smile to my face, I can just picture your time with Kathy. FUN!!

Kathy, yes, I do see a touch of yellow on the matured bloom. I wonder if it is not Dar. Charm but supposed to be this Neo? Hmm, without pink spurs....
http://www.seed-engei.com/fuki...

edited to add - I just looked at my Reinbow, bought from Seed Engei at the SEPOS. On the tag it says in the tiniest writing possible ( ca 1mm)
Neofinetia falcata x Darwinara Charm
Darwinara Charm is Neof. falcata x Vasco. Tham Yuen Hae, so this one is back- crossed to Neo falcata, showing characteristics more like a Neo f.

Lindsey, pretty blooms! And the Sharry Baby hybrid gotta smell nice.

Yes mine is also back-crossed. I believe we have the same x. I bought 2 so it will be interesting to see what happens with all our Reinbows!!
A new bloom opened today. It is very white with a touch of lavender on the tips of the petals. Pics soon.

Jo, the species phal keiki is Phal. lueddemanniana. http://www.orchidweb.com/Orchi...
