MTB finally has 6 buds this yr which is a relief. That is the 'standard' minimum. All will be kept for work if not intro. I hope the 4th a red blooms soon & I get a better picture.

Joann I like Creative Accent it looks like it is happy that is great to be able to get a clump shot on a first year plant.

Tom Rippling River is a favorite it always blooms well and it has lots of increase I will send you some of it this year the Ghio one Famous Last Words is very pretty its growing well both bulbs of it that I got bloomed and it is fertile It has pollen on every flower and seems to be setting pods from the couple crosses I did with it, I think it is a winner this year.

Jan I really like Starship Enterprise too I have wanted it for a while the other one I bought that is real similar is a Keppel one called Rainbow High it has the same color combo but I think the beard is more bright and it has more ruffles heres a pic which one do you like best of the two.

Well, I'm down to my last iris pictures from my garden for spring 2012. The weather wasn't nearly as cooperative as it could have been, which I know is probably true for just about all of us, but I still had some beauties. A lot of buds dried up, though, during the last heat wave while we were gone, and I sure wish I could have seen those blooms... Crying

MY BELOVED - Ghio - Love those ruffles!

SPICE TRADER - John Painter - Such great colors -- a real standout in the garden!

BEACH DANCE - Blyth

JUST CRAZY - Blyth

MERCHANT MARINE - Keppel - The color is a lot lighter in our heat, but the form is still fantastic!

SUN SHINE IN - Keppel - Another of my favorites -- wonderful pure yellow ruffles!

CENTER ICE - Ghio

LOVING YOU - Lesley Painter, 2011

PALACE SYMPHONY - Blyth

UNDERCURRENT - Keppel

THINKING CAP - Thomas Johnson, 2011

PAGEANT'S GOWN - Lesley Painter, 2010 - I love everything about it!

BLUEBERRY PARFAIT - Schreiner's

THINK BIG

THUNDERING OVATION - Paul Black

FOOLISH DREAMER - Keppel, 2011

DANCING WITH IRENE - Rick Ernst - Another of my favorites, and my final bloom for this season. (Taken in early morning sunlight.)

It was a good season... sigh...

Oh Betty. Your iris are always just too beautiful. I hate to see them end. Gosh, I too love the ruffles on that white iris, pretty, pretty. But the one that really calls to me is SUN SHINE IN. Ruffles and color! Oh my. What is that orange iris in the back of the first of the three pictures of SUN SHINE IN? That looks like a color can not be missed!

Gorgeous as always Betty...are you impressed with Blueberry Parfait? What something is worth is a matter of opinion but is it special enough to have justified it's intro price.....I'm always interested in you opinion. I ordered Marching Band last year on your recommendation. It is wonderful.

Paul, I haven't been that impressed with BLUEBERRY PARFAIT but went ahead and ordered it last year because I was hoping the falls would fall a little more for me and I couldn't get the one I really wanted (ALSEA FALLS) because it hadn't been introduced yet. I love the colors on BLUEBERRY PARFAIT but not the form -- and ALSEA FALLS has now been introduced by Schreiner's and I've ordered it. So I'll probably give BLUEBERRY PARFAIT away. I think I got it from Joe Ghio or Superstition last year, though, so it didn't cost that much. I'm slowly moving away from irises and toward daylilies, so each year I order less irises. The iris season is so short, and now most daylilies rebloom at least once over the summer and fall...

Here's a picture of the one I really wanted -- ALSEA FALLS.

Now that's the way I like my falls!

If I had less mileage, more energy, more acreage and lots of money I could easily get into daylilies but my goal now is to maintain my roses and add a few good iris and Hosta each year. I often look at the daylily threads to see the fancy things people are growing. That satisfies me. Alsea Falls is gorgeous.

I too have more daylilies than iris. And each year I think I am going to just hold steady with the iris, and keep increasing my daylilies.

And then the iris bloom season begins.... and I fall in love all over again. There is just something to be said for iris, besides the fact that they fill that time between the spring bulbs and daylily season. ~Jan
