Ursula, SBOE isn't listing Suavis right now, but they do have a couple of other pretty ones. I may have to get one.

Ahh Jim, you're going to miss moving that Epi radicans around when you get your new addition. Big Grin

Carol, they are calling it Trichopilia Charles (marginata x suavis), although it is not registered.

I read up on it, and though it's supposed to be a warm grower, I think it's worth a try.

My mistake, it is registered as Trichopilia Charles - suavis x marginata ( pod parent suavis)
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticu...

And there is Suave Margins - also suavis x marginata
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticu...

I don't think I ever came across the identical cross registered twice like that. What am I missing here?
In any case, it looks like the identical bloom. Pretty!

Looking again at the RHS pages -
I have just learned from my favorite "Expert Lurker" Smiling that the Suave Margins is listed as synonym, while Charles is not a synonym. Charles was registered in 1986 ( first) and Suave Margins in 1990 ( second)
The RHS allowed the registration of Suave Margins in error.

Carry on! Smiling

I've been trying to find C. Easter Bunny and am coming up blank. What's the deal with that?

Right now if you search for it, only Easter bunny stuff comes up!

My Cattleya skinneri alba 'Debbie' FCC/AOS is now almost fully open. 10 spikes in the works - I am very happy not having destroyed all of the live eyes! This was a plant which had measured about 6 feet across and I chopped it apart last Spring. But this one was the largest of the divisions. You saw Kathy's nice blooms on one of the divisions. Thumbs up

Cattleya schilleriana opened a first spike with 2 blooms and there is another spike with 4 buds to go. This one is very fragrant after the blooms are open for a day or two.

The larger of my two Lc Irene Finney 'Springs Best' is now fully open too and the 2 plants are scenting the living room during the day. Heavenly!!
And Lc Rojo is still going strong!

Leptotes bicolor actually manages to hang on to earlier blooms this time.

Thanks all! Smiling happy!
Kathy, the C. schilleriana sits on the top shelf under the glass ceiling in the greenhouse and in full sun outside. I could never bloom it until I moved it bare root to this Bonsai dish. (I have a second plant which I moved to Epiweb, I set this one back severely doing so, but it is coming around slowly.) Essentially mounting it and placing it in full sun that the leaves are really colored seems to be the way to go, at least in my hands. It gets flooded daily.

Would you treat C. aclandiae the same? I can't get mine to bloom.

I thought it was late April! View out the kitchen window. Opera today (Rene Fleming! Richard Strauss!!)
