That is bad, Charley. We had a pretty wet summer with remnants of a hurricane due to hit us starting, Sunday. Confused

Linda,
Thank you!

Ginny,
Thanks, but us Midwesterners know there are crabgrass and other weeds among the grass, lol!
I am amazed at all the things you planted this year. Wow! Your beds are going to explode next year!

Thanks Valerie!

Thank you Dana!

Charley,
I'm sorry your daylilies need the water.
Gotta laugh at the gravel forum tho!

Hi Melissa,
Love your avatar!

Raining lightly off and on. Chilly out. Still toasty in.

A chance of showers before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 4pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Rita,
I'm glad you got rain and a walk in!

Ginny,
It rained lightly off and on here too yesterday.

Margaret,
I don't think frost is too far off for me.

Poor Linda,
Now you have to listen to all of us talk about winter coming. But, we'll envy you as soon as it gets colder.

We got the two older boys last night and took them to Arby's for a change. That was a nice change from Burger King.

They kept me up until 11:00 last night watching them play X-box.

Later today we go with MIL and DH's siblings and spouses to eat in the Amanas and then go to a play at The Old Creamery to see A Comedy of Tenors. Should be fun.

We have been as high as 105 heat index last week and temps in the mid 90's.

How I long for the last weekend of October...to sit on the porch in the swing
and watch the hickory tree leaves and other tree leaves falling with a breeze
on my face..

It appears that the last of the hummingbirds are coming through from
the northern united states down through south east alabama ...stopping for a
fuel up at my home.

I have their feeders filled with fresh sugar water I made for them and changing
the feeders out twice a week..cleaning them with a toothbrush and white vinegar
and rinse with water.

I have two new fawns coming to dine and drink here at our home with their mothers
so I always have my camera ready by any of the many windows in my home.

Finally saw the sun this afternoon for the first time in 2 days. Cloudy and cool with almost 1 1/2" of rain between Thurs. and Fri. We needed it so no complaints. Temps have been mostly low 50's nights and low 60's days. Thought it would get warmer today with the sun than it did, high 62.
News is reporting nice foliage in the highest areas, not much happening here yet. We need the colder temps, not that I'm in a huge rush there's still a good amount of work to be done in the garden and a couple hundred pods to ripen. What was I thinking making crosses so late? Pollen happens when the daylilies keep blooming.... Whistling

Frost advisory here for tonight, 34F (1C). It won't be the first one this season but the other two were lighter than this might be. I brought in some tomatoes and a couple of zucchini, there's not much else out there at this point. Still a couple of daylilies in flower though, one NOID plus Hemerocallis multiflora.

Tropicals
Very warm here and dry. It's been near and above 88 degrees for the month and lows have hovered around 76-78. We've had 2 inches of rain and when you live on sand, 2" is nothing.

Waiting for a spell for cooler weather to plant tomatoes and peppers. The peppers I started from seed have buds on them. Little, tiny buds. They need to be on their boxes so they can go and bloom! Maybe by the end of next week I can make that happen!

Until then, I'll continue making Christmas ornaments from shells. I've done this for 3 yr so I have quite a collection that I'm enhancing.
