My favorite thread. Rolling my eyes. I am a huge fan of variegated plants in all colors. I have many and still want some more rare ones. All of yours are beautiful. I too have some of the same plants that you do. I even have variegated weeds, haha. They just want me to like them too. Rolling on the floor laughing

Great to see all the croton pics.
There once was a Croton Society...now disbanded, it exists as a online forum. Last Easter-time we hosted a croton event here in S Florida..which we have discussed making a annual event. I'll check this post & let y'all know of upcoming plans...

Like I said before to you privately, I think your plants rock! You have the gift of growing. I collected snippets of a lot of syngoniums years ago off the Lowe's deader racks, Exotic Angel plants they almost killed then put in sale for $1. I planted them as accent and ground cover in the greenhouse. This one is my favorite. I think its called 'Confetti'. These are actually hardy here and I also have them outside in the yard. But I like their look in the indoor growing environment too

There was a croton group here that used to sell at the Marie Selby and Fairchild Gardens sales in Sarasota and Miami years ago. I don't know if they are still at it or not. But they had some great plants. I bought one from them called Picasso's Paintbrush it has red and yellow in the leaves but its hard to see in this photo, this one is also being grown in light that is too low because it is shaded by some 17-18 ft tall plumeria and a big Praying hands banana

I think that these are the 4 plants I have in my collection that are variegated that are my 'most favorite'. I have collected and propagated them religiously because I never want to lose them. Variegated Rhapis excelsa palm (Lady Palm), variegated Monstera delicious, the Mickey Mouse taro, and Alocasia macrorhizza albo-variegata.

I saw that variegated Opuntia in Jax, FL last year, got some pads to start from a friend in Jax. since I knew they did well in N. FL.

Gala, I've never seen a variegated Gardenia before. Lovey dubby

Gina, I'm thinking we might just get rain from this hurricane, but those in the Panhandle...sheesh... Blinking Crying

Paula, nice prayer plant. Thumbs up

I looked on here for a Croton forum, didn't see any. I have 20 different varieties of Crotons, so obviously a passion for them. Only problem here is we can have a night or two of freezing temps, so most of mine are in huge pots. Maybe we should start a Croton thread and show them off. Whistling

Some variegated bromeliads... (also referred to as "Albo Marginated")

Sherri Governor Scott has added my county to the State of Emergency list. Not that I think that means we are going to get hit directly but they have put mandatory evacuation on Cedar Key which is less than an hour away (they always flood and the storm surge will get them this time). I moved everything in from around my pool deck and house and that's about all I can do. I love your variegated broms! I have a few, Ae. Louise, variegated form of Billbergia 'Hallelujah' is floating around the greenhouse somewhere....This is a plant I no longer have, the variegated Coral Tree (an Erythrina sp). I loved it, but it was almost invasive in the greenhouse and dropped a thousand leaves in fall. I trailed it outdoors but it didn;t fly. But it is a lovely plant

Ohh la la, that is nice, too bad it didn't make it.

I didn't realize you lived close to the west side, where are you? We frequent Dunnellon all the time. We visited Cedar Key after the last time it took a big hit, I think about two years ago, don't remember the storm name, they just opened it back up to the public, many buildings took a bit hit. I'm too far east for this one.

PS. I have Bill. Louise too. Lovey dubby

I would imagine Cedar Key would indeed be underwater, this storm is hitting with the highest tides we have seen this year.

I love, love, love pink foliage and the Blushing Philodendron (Philodendron erubescens 'Pink Princess') was always a favorite of mine. I used to have two of them, gave the smaller away and lost the larger one to a freeze one year.

I'd love to know the name of that beautiful Codiaeum? in photo #5 too! Lovey dubby

Lin, That is a all pink sport that developed on my 'Mango' plant last year. So far it looks to be holding on to the coloring. Here is the 'Mango'.

My thoughts are with all of those in the panhandle area as well as Georgia, South and North Carolina. Please be safe everyone!

I'm on the central east coast of Florida and we had some gusty winds and a little shower this morning but it's been breezy and sunny all day. Tomorrow we are supposed to get some gusty winds and rain but we are a good distance from where the bad weather will be. The surf here is quite rough and lifeguard towers have red flags flying, trying to keep people out of the water. Surfers are loving the waves though. The live Daytona Beach webcams don't show much happening on the beach at this time of day:

I think we are going to be ok but jeez the Panhandle and Big Bend! My daughter is in Sarasota and it looks like they are already getting rain bands. I have to call her. She goes to Ringling (the art school) and the school was flooded for a week after Irma. Classes were cancelled so that stayed with us. Even though we had no power for 2 days it was funny hearing them gripe. But then they have never really camped out. I love that Pink Mango sport! Another variegated orchid, Arachnis Maggie Oei 'Red Ribbon'
