@bluegrassmom, Teresa, that is a great picture of the Western Ky Botanical Garden. When was this picture taken? I went there a couple of years ago in late summer and was so disappointed because it was kind of run down with weeds. Just wondering if it has improved over the last few years.

Daylilies & hardy hibiscus

This is one of my favorite daylily pics I've taken. It's of Star Dream (P. Fass, 1955) chilling in the shade of a white swamp hibiscus.

The white hibiscus plants out front are BIG, as in 14' tall. They're too shaded, so they get super lanky unless I remember to pinch them back all spring.

Anyway, Star Dream is the star for sure. Pure yellow, fairly large blooms, awesome fragrance. Plus, it's older than me so I feel like a spring chicken around it.

Hardy hibiscus are a hobby, but daylilies are an obsession.

Vickie, they have added many more and have the volunteer Saturday's now. It is worth a stop. I have been a member there for several years and hope to go more often since my sister moved to Owensboro and is only 3 miles from the Western KY Garden.
