I thought it'd be fun to have a thread that shows what our neighborhoods look like throughout the seasons. I hope you too would like to share what you see when you walk around your area.

This morning I went for a walk and found many happy plants still blooming in the cooler weather. In my area the winters are mild so there won't be much of a change from now on and I'll try to find interesting things to post other than just blooms but for now, here's what I saw this morning.

Succulents and cacti grow and bloom in cooler weather. Some of them are spectacular.

And look at these two guys. Aren't they something else? Such large and healthy happy plants.

I'd never seen a citrus tree like this one.

And my favorite succulent garden. I should take a better photo, this one doesn't do it justice. I hope my succulent garden looks like this in a few years. It's a jungle! Smiling

Great question!

This question begs us to be more observant so rather than just walking with friends or a dog or maybe just listening to tunes, keep our eyes open to look for beauty and/or interesting sights to share such as this display of leaves that fell randomly on the street as seen when walking a dog.

LCL,

Thank goodness for smartphones with great cameras, no? Smiling

Around here people have started to place holiday decorations on their front gardens. Here are a few of the ones we saw tonight during our evening walk:

Anyone else would like to share some nice/interesting/pretty/funny/weird/colorful/etc. sight from around your neighborhood?

Saw this on neighbour's garden. They have kids... perhaps a nice idea to attract kids joining the garden rimes.

The neighbor was smiling when I gaze at her garden curiously, stopped and ask to snap a pict... Oooo those are just recycled bottles she said, kids wanted to keep them with blue hats.... she said.

I'm so glad you posted that photo, Tofi. Thank You!

And you are posting from Indonesia, that's so cool! Please do keep sharing photos, it'd be so interesting to have glimpses of what you see. Smiling

(I've never been to Indonesia but I learned to cook nasi goreng in The Netherlands and it has become one of my favorite rice dishes). Lovey dubby

This red fox was checking out my yard for rabbits but my garden fence is quite rabbit proof so he decided to just keep moving. Nice to see it so close providing they aren't rabid.

Such a nice photo! That's a very photogenic fox, isn't it? 🤣 Looks very happy to see you. 😄

Have you seen foxes walking the streets of your neighborhood? Here they sometimes are spotted crossing streets.

There are foxes in the neighborhood and I've been lucky enough to get some decent photos as I keep my camera ready while they search for their next meal. There are families of them, both red and greys. Two years ago a pure white one with a grey squirrel in its mouth was seen crossing the road. (and this is not the Arctic). A month or so later it was spotted about thirty miles from where I saw it which confirmed perhaps a doubted or skeptical report of my sighting.

Good morning,

More interesting sights in the neighborhood and right in my yard! These are wild turkeys that once were nearly extinct but have been subjugated and now are plentiful and nearly TOO plentiful. They can be quite aggressive and act like they own the space, even up to my front door steps. An adult male may weigh up to 24 pounds and the female is about half that weight. They will eat insects as well as acorns, seeds and other garden items but they may have as many insects from my yard as they want because I don't spray.

I will get some picture of my yard and post them. I live in the country so will see what I can get pictures of. I love the wildlife pictures. Here are a couple from last year.

Love the pics of the deer but a lot of people try to discourage the "pesky" squirrels from robbing the food intended for the songbirds. I see your feeders are specifically intended for the little rascals.
I suspect that you are a very kind and caring person so I will try to pass on your home address to the squirrels that haunt my neighborhood. Frankly I love all creatures great and small providing they behave.
These little guys can get into gardens even if fenced and play havoc with some of the veggies intended for humanoids.

We didn't mind the squirrels eating the bird food, but then discovered that they were gnawing on some of the wood on the house. At first we couldn't figure out what it was, but then saw one doing it on the next door neighbor roof. So stopped feeding anything.

Squirrels aren't a problem here. We had 4 coming about 2 winters ago and none since. We are a ways from the woods plus we have dogs and a lot of cats around so that keeps them away, I am sure. Crossing Fingers!

You're right. That winter my husband fed them cracked corn under our deck which is why they came into the yard after their first visit to eat the grass on our side of the fence. After this summer when they ate my hostas, I told him NO MORE feeding the deer in our yard.

The only plants that I've noticed that they ate are strawberry leaves, garden phlox, and Hosta. I hope that's all they ever eat and I'll be happy.
