Okay, what's the name on the orange iris?
What a great combo!
Those plants don't bloom at the same time here, so it's kind of strange to see them together.

It's from Schreiner's Iris. I believe it is China Dragon.

My Rainbow Sorbet didn't blossom once this year.. the weather was just too tough on it. *sigh* And I was soooooooooo looking forward to seeing it, especially after seeing yours! Your Oranges & Lemons has a lot more Lemon than mine.. mine's practically just Oranges with No Lemons. And with your Europeana - do you actually have an iris blooming right now? Blinking

I planted a boatload of Immortality iris two years ago and they are in bloom right now. They look good with Europeana, don't you think? Another re-bloomer that I have been enjoying in early fall is Blue Suede Shoes.

Sorry to hear about Rainbow Sorbet. I depend on mine to carry my garden through the thin part of summer. I wish I understood more about why roses do not bloom (too much shade, not enough water, too much nitrogen, not enough phosphorous, other stresses such as heat or cold or gophers nibbling on their roots). Did it bloom well for you last year? Maybe it wants some Mills Magic for Christmas?

Steve - Rainbow Sorbet is a new rose for me this year. Many many many roses I planted this year (count, almost all) didn't bloom or didn't bloom right. I think it was the incredibly intense sun this year w/the heat that really got to them. The ones that survived are now starting to swell with buds, a little too late as we're supposed to have our first hard frost some time this week/weekend (doing one last major mulch project tonight, much to the dismay of my back). I'm hoping that 2013 will be not as brutal with the heat, intensity, & drought. We need moisture desperately.

I'm still running sprinklers because we didn't get the good rain that hit the rest if town.
Water Lily just went to the top of my wish list. Where did I see it listed? Palatine?
Rainbow Sorbet is a nonstop bloomer for me too--even in the extreme heat.
Yours should do better next year, Toni.

Water Lily is amazing. It will make those great heads of perfect flowers and hold them for two maybe three weeks at a time. And then it may hold them for some time after they look their best. I've never actually deadheaded, but some might think it's necessary. This one's a little more than two feet high and a little lopsided, but i'm hoping in a year or two it will balance out. I got it from Palatine. Last year it sold out in the first week.

I got Las Vegas from Palatine. I love that photo, too. I'm not sure I love the plant as much. A bloom will look like that for 24674.8 seconds, tops. Before that it is an insignificant bud. After that it is a big blown faded flower. And mine makes about a dozen a year. So you practically have to stand in the garden waiting to get such a picture.

No disease problems noted with either.
