The contrasting ruffled edges on Dzhentlmen Udachi and Znatnaya Dama are amazing.
Kareglazka would be best translated
as Brown-eyed Girl &
Kordevich Elisey as Prince Elisey.
All of them are lovely!

thank you! "the Prince" for some reason I didn't come to mind! Rolling on the floor laughing indeed, the king's son is a Prince. Although there is a small nuance - the word "Korolevich" is sometimes used in the Russian language in fairy tales instead of the word "Prince" or "tsarevich" and is a folk-poetic shade.

Interesting. We don't really have an equivalent single word. Our fairy tales use "handsome prince" or "prince charming" to bring out the romantic/poetic style. Smiling

@Serjio, are you planning crosses of Olga's irises in your next year's breeding? They seem a never ending source of delight! And those wonderful sounding Russian names are so musical in my ears... Drooling I tip my hat to you.

Thank you! I ordered the following varieties:
'Rozovy Zontik' (yet it is not in the database AIS, is registered at the moment)
'Vozdushny Potseluy'
'Vulkan Strastey'
''Gostiya Is Budushego'
'Zolotaya Podkova'
'Kapriznaya Printsessa'
'Chiorny Kardinal
'Shipy I Roza'
'Yarmarka Chiudes',
'Yasnaya Poliana'

so only 3 out of 10 I posted a photo. All images of varieties are on the website of Olga, but there they logo and the quality of the photo is worse than those that she sent to my request. Therefore, the photos from her site are not suitable for uploading to the database, I think

Jan,
I remember very little of the Russian I learned during a 5 month job as a "Foreign Fisheries Observer" on Soviet fishing vessels in US waters in 1985. However, I do know what sounds best in English. Also, my greater experience with Spanish makes me well aware that some things cannot be exactly translated due to differences in culture and thought processes.
I agree Olga's irises suite my tastes perfectly. If she could market them here, I would have an order in for this Spring too.

That sounds like it was an interesting job, Diana.!!

I took French in college and retain a bit - and I understand what you mean by what "sounds" right, And living in California, particularly, one picks up a lot of Spanish!
