I love Achimenes too. I grow a lot of Gesneriads and learned from attending the National Capitol Area Chapter of the National Gesneriad Society that you can add to your achimenes collection easily. Just make up a container of you potting mix. Break apart the achimenes rhizome...you can break it into tiny pieces...look closely. Spread each tiny little piece all over the growing medium just like you would seeds. Don't cover the pieces. Do cover the container to keep in the humidity with plastic wrap. Place under your plant lights or on a non-direct sun windowsill and in a few weeks you will have lots of babies!
