Becky, I think your strategy regarding inexpensive daylilies is a good one. There really is no way to determine with any degree of certainty whether a dormant is going to make it in the South or an evergreen in the north. For sure, I'm not going to order an evergreen that was released by a southern hybridizer in 2015 (or one that will be in spring 2016) because of the expense.
