Here's 'Sagae' in the ground. I planted it solo, and man was it a back breaker! Fortunately my red maple doesn't have a lot of surface roots. As maples go, the red maples seem less thuggish.

Yep, Elizabeth...it did occur to me that this hosta would probably sulk a bit next year. I sort of figured that was the rule when transplanting large hostas in general, but I didn't know that 'Sagae' was particularly prone to pouting.

Now, I wonder where I should plant 'Liberty?' (Pictured at the top of this thread.) Maybe across the sidewalk, where it will eventually balance things out. It would get a bit more sun there than 'Sagae' will get, which should help it color up nicely, I would think.

Now, to get the rest of this newly prepared bed expansion planted...
