As promised- here's my Hodge Podge of just about everything in bloom in our putrid gardening season to date. Nothing 'major' except a hydrangea. Sorely lacking in dahlias for substance and more color
I do love the spring green of the Lady's Mantle and hosta leaves in back, and yes I love the spear-like foliage of iris, crocosmia and similar plants for height.
Are you familiar with 'Louisiana Walking Iris?' They have wonderful spires of foliage and are 'walking' after getting them in a swap 10 years or more ago. But they don't do anything but foliage- no blooms.
